Lane Kiffin Quote Of The Day

KIFFINFormer USC coach Lane Kiffin made his only public comments for the season yesterday because Alabama assistants are not allowed to speak to the media. Kiffin was asked about getting another head-coaching job.

“Until the end of the year when those things happen I don’t think about it,” Kiffin said. “Calls that come, obviously, you’re going to listen to and stuff. This chapter (at Alabama) wasn’t over yet.”

Obviously, someone is going to call at some point. And heaven help them for doing it.

  1. Kiffin is in line for the southern cal job… Because Sark will be fired for going 8-5 this year… I could just see it now, Haden firing Sark for losing 45-21 to Northwestern at the Blue Bonnet Bowl!

    • Perfect Wolf post; starts will Kiffin, mindlessly rips SC and cites an event that last happened in 1987. Well played sir.

  2. And someone is going to call Scott during the season for a radio interview and heaven help them for doing it, as well……

  3. Yes, We all know who will make that late night belligerent, and heavy breathing call to Kiff. Heaven help you Wolf.

  4. Yep, let’s beat that dead horse Kiffin one more time, Scottie.

    And again. And again.

At least Wolf has one fan, Bucket, for whatever that is worth.

    • Scott is relentless… but you’ve gotta love his “Devil’s Advocate” style of journalism….said no one….. ever……

    • You were his BIGGEST SUPPORTER!!!!! You appreciated the way he presented himself ( mumbling, cross eyed, stammering , looking at his feet,…unable to look at a camera)…you perceived him to be CONFIDENT…..You are a BOZO…….just like GOAT BOY.
      FIT UNG!

    • It’s funny how the nepotism hire Kiffin fails at USC and the rah rahs still defend him. It’s like they enjoy going 7-6 and losing in the Sun Bowl.

      • Lane’s personality rubbed people the wrong way at times. And probably should’ve had more Head Coaching experience before being the USC coach. Oh…and Monty Kiffins defense was HORRIBLE.

        • All that ,Plus with all said, we were going into and on probation.. He did some good things and some poor things. Not many coaches would have made it through that period..Not a fan of his, was happy he was fired, however ,move on and wish him well, he’s in our past.

          • He wasn’t the guy for us going into probation. Too bad Urban Meyer wasn’t available at the time.

          • Lane had his faults and definitely faced a lot of challenges. For a program that had transfers left and right the first two seasons, a bowl ban for a season, and 30 scholarships taken from us we made out pretty good.

Also. Wednesday on ESPNU College Football Live, and CFB Daily shows will be at USC/UCLA. Only about the two LA schools.

          • A lot of thoughts come up for me thinking about those seasons. Lane lacked the maturity to really handle it correctly. Yet, no other school has had the severity of penalties and played as well as the Trojan players did.The players of those teams deserve much more credit than they are given. I think we should remember their dedication as much or more than the Kiffens, and the negatives. To this day I believed we should have sued , yet it serves
no purpose now.Again hats off to the players who played then.

          • That will always be a stain on Pat Haden’s career as Athletic Director. How he didn’t pursue any kind of legal retaliation. At least try.
To this day people often say “USC should’ve sued the NCAA”. No hard feelings towards Pat at all. He probably feels he should’ve handled it another. What’s done is done. The players who stuck around and decided to play for USC won’t go unknoticed. The real Pac 12 followers know that USC was actually the first Pac 12 South winner. Probation or not we proved it on the field in 2011.

          • I don’t think Meyer would have come to SC. He can’t control the media in a big city.

Regarding Kiffin: You don’t hand the keys to a Ferrari to a 16 year old.

  5. wolfman, with the perspective of time, i can now clearly assert that i know of no other instance where a beat writer caused the downfall of a coach of a major (such as it is) football program!! you can draw a direct line from Kiff’s decision to tangle with the wolfman, to the ambush by Paddy O’Hadden on the tarmac of LAX!! you got so far inside his head, he fell apart emotionally and professionally.

wolfman, remind me to NEVER, EVER do anything to tick you off!!! crossing the wolfman is like pulling the pin on a grenade and putting it in your back pocket!!!

  6. If you saw how pitiful the Alabama offense was the last 1 &1/2 of the Ohio St. game, you saw Kiffin’s disorganization and unimaginative playcalling where a competent OC would have at least gotten the Tide down closer to the end zone the way the buckeyes were playing so deep defensively. And Nick Saban is giving Kiffin the best players possible to work with? Kiffin is not headcoach material.

    • To be fair to Kiff, his offense did score 35 points. Most people would’ve taken that at the start of the game. If you want to blame someone, blame Saban’s porous defense for giving up 40+ points.

      • Your reply is true… but it was Alabama’s offense that gave up turnovers (picks) to give OSU the ball 2/3 more times to get back the lead which it did. You cannot keep giving the ball away especially in the 4th quarter. Correct me if I am wrong… every top team like an Alabama surely has a 2-minute type drill in its gameplan to use when necessary. This is where your OC really earns his money when your back is against the wall at the last minute or so. I saw a mismanagement of time wasting and non-imaginative playcalling to stop the clock. What did you see?

        • The Buckeyes had 5 drives of 70+ yards that resulted in 34 points. Not a strong defensive effort. The buckeye offense clearly controlled the game.

    • I’m not a Kiffin fan and I agree that he is not head coaching material, but Blake Sims was hardly one of “the best players possible to work with.”…..heck, he wasn’t even the best QB in the SEC… that would be Dak Prescott, at Mississippi State….Kiffin got the most out of Sims, who is now playing football in Saskatchewan

  7. His deep embedded ego will not allow him to be a successful head coach at the Div I level. And another reason is that, I don’t think he will get the opportunity to lead a Big Time program like USC, or Tennessee . I think his next opportunity will probably be at a Mountain West School, or at a program that’s been on the skids .
