USC Morning Buzz: And Perhaps Buzz Is The Key Word

Social media was full of comments last night about Steve Sarkisian at the Salute to Troy. Several people told me he said, “get ready to fight the —- on,” to the crowd before he departed and there were plenty of other colorful remarks from the stage during the event. Hopefully, he didn’t jump off an apartment balcony afterward.

  1. “Hopefully, he didn’t jump off an apartment balcony afterward.” WOW. You had to bring that up, when he had nothing to do with it last year??!!?? That is in the PAST. People have moved on and probably forgot about it too. Why the barbs and hate towards USC football coaches? Are you trolling your own blog?

  2. He has to understand that he has 105 kids under him expecting him to set high standards.

      • Nah. I think that’s overstating things in a big way. Joe Freaking Biden leaned over to Obama on an open mike when Obamacare was passed and said, “This is a big F___ deal”, which made world news. Leaders can have some leeway in this department. And behind closed doors? It’s all colors of the linguistic rainbow, believe me.

        • OK. What happens if a student athlete gets drunk and embarrasses the University when TMZ is in his face? What moral authority does Sark have to tell the kid he did wrong? Pete always said protect the team. Sark cannot say that.

I have no qualms about Sark using the F-word. I have a problem with the HC turning up drunk to a school event.

          • Actually, I stand corrected.. Hadn’t read the full story. No excuse for his behavior last night. I thought it was just the one F-bomb, but getting drunk at any USC-related function is unacceptable. Slurring words and saying the other conference teams suck is way beyond the pale.

        • If Biden had yelled those comments into the microphone and then made obscene jokes to the female Supreme Court Judges and Senators then I’d say you had a good comparison.

    • Haden made Sark publicly apologize. It’s a good first step. But, what a cluster for the guy. Beyond dumb.

Sark really hurt himself here. He’ll be open season because of this if the team’s record starts to disappoint.

  3. Haden’s boy, Sark, is turning the program into…

    1. Shining Light on the Hill
    2. The Glory Days of past
    3. Fodder for stand up comediens
    4. An Embarrassment

Sark, you said this was your dream job? Our dream is not to have an embarrassing program and a drunk head coach spewing out unprofessional obscenities.

Figure out a way to hold yourself to a more professional level, or head on down to Florida State!

    Don’t be a loser

  4. Reportedly Sark was floating around teling a “dildo” joke. That seems to have a touch of irony, don’t you think?

    • Jim Mora cursed at a ucla rally last year, so don’t come hear with your mudslinging.

      • Sorry, Cool. There is big difference between a rally before a game and a classy evening event at which the head coach gets drunk, tells off color jokes to women, insults other schools in the conference and reportedly has to be escorted off the stage by his AD.

I am sure most Trojans are embarrassed by his behavior and that he will be sitting down with Haden very soon.

        • Shouting an f’ bomb in front of a bunch of little kids, who look up to you, is inexcusable, whether it is before a big game, or before the season starts.

You are pathetic probation because all you do make trouble here. You absolutely love it when something bad happens at USC. Then when something similiar happens at ucla you act as their pr firm. That is why it is so hard to take your opinions seriously.

          • ucla’s got their own problems, for all the world to see. Don’t get into it with these little gutty Trolls. You’ll learn.

          • Probation u is the ultimate mudslinger. One time I mentioned on this site how a lot of people at St. John Bosco didn’t like josh Rosen very much. Probation completely blew it out of proportion. Probation u is a troublemaker, who I would hate to cross paths with in person. Imagine what all probation’s acquaintances feel about him/her.

          • I think the kids have heard the f-word before. It would be better had he chosen different words, but not a big deal, IMO. Mora and Sark are friends. Maybe Mora can face cup his buddy and do an intervention.

      • I just think it’s funny, period. Ironic. Nothing I take seriously. I am guessing that Haden isn’t too happy. I doubt most big donors to SC are happy about it either. But, if SC wins the PAC12, all will be forgiven and forgotten. Not even a speed bump.

And by the way, xtracool, I am not over here stirring up things. I save that for your buddy, Laker Rod on the Wang site. You are a Bruin (Jack B, regrettably xtracool is one of ours) over here as well and you and Laker Rod belong together.

          • Yes. With Bruins line that, who needs Trojans?!

Calling me out for being mean! And stirring it up. Funny. Doesn’t he read the other trolls?

          • I don’t think any poster has ever called another a “gunslinger” in the history of Inside USC….

  5. Fire Sark and Haden. Haden brought in this clown. Let Helton run the team this year and hire Greg Schiano. He made Rutgers respectable, so imagine what he could do at USC. He could also bring back Coach O to handle recruiting.

    • Coach O is done at USC, especially after his game-ending tirade. The market eventually showed him what he was worth – much less than he thought. And no, we don’t need him to recruit well. Recruiting has been fantastic without him.

      • Aside from Coach …Schiano Would be a fantastic hire. He would be bring back a hard nosed approach to USC. Enough with these so called offensive geniuses.

        • Schiano was 68-67 at Rutgers and 11-21 withe the Dolphins and now can’t get a HC job because nobody wants him. He’s all yours. Just keep him away from USC, obviously.

          • Look what Rutgers was before Schiano took over. He wasn’t with the Dolphins he was at the train wreck they call Tampa Bay. As I recall PCs record in the NFL wasn’t all that great either.

          • PC and Coach O are part of SC history – it’s Sark’s time, he will coach SC for 10 more years

          • Oh, so now you’re comparing Schiano, who can’t get a job, to the coach with a Super Bowl win and the best contract in the NFL, after leading USC to two NCs.

Fortunately for me, I understand USC will never consider hiring loser dead meat like Schiano. You’re not so lucky.

You even think SC should turnaround and bring back Old Ed again, who already had his shot, twice, and was stupid enough to turn down the greatest asst coach offer in coaching history. Somebody must have kicked Ed O in the head, or given him too many cookies.

In any case, dream on. Your two favorite candidates have as much chance of coaching at USC as I do.

  6. One thing about John McKay. He could handle his booze. Sounds like Sark needs to step back and take a real look at himself. He won’t succeed if he doesn’t, obviously.

      • Although many felt his coaching career expired early when he took the Tampa Bay job, as noted John McKay lived well passed the life expectancy of a man born in 1923. But since you bring it up, Mr. Jenkins recalls a well-known 1950s cross-town football coach, ironically nicknamed “Red,” who died “prematurely” in a couple senses of the word.

  7. Who cares, cut the guy some slack – he’s been working his tail off and it was the last day of fall camp. I am not concerned until there is a police report of him fleeing the scene of a crime – the kids have been very well behaved, look at all the trouble FSU and Bama get into on a regular basis

    • Yolo,
Your post is so telling. The standards of behavior at SoCal have deteriorated to the point that you aren’t embarrassed until you see a police report of your head coach fleeing the scene of a crime? That’s how low the standards are at SoCal now?
I guess it’s just part of your tradition.

      • I wasn’t there, hard to say how shameful it resally was – I’m sure he regrets it, nothing happened overall – he’s got a lot stress as the guy expected to go 15-0 like some clown was saying at another blog, and he is human – you and Mora are lucky nobody expects anything from you at all – now get back in your play corner called Wang, ok?

      • I’m just comparing the incodent to the standards at Ucla and your star recruit Soso – how is that guy even on the team? Would never happen at SC

        • Yeah, you mean like Rey Maualuga assaulting people in Eureka before he came to SC? Don’t be naive. Happens everywhere.

  8. Did he do any limericks?
There once was a man from Figueroa,
Whose ego was as big as a boa,
He told dirty stories in front of little girls and boyees,
and next year he’ll coach in Samoa.

  9. Lack of Institutional Beverage Control.
It still remains to be seen which was the worse hire,
    Sark or Enfield.
Not my comment but worth repeating: Mission accomplished: the Clown shoes have been filled.

  10. “Get ready to fight the f–k on!” It sounds stronger than the simpleton version of “Fight on.” I kind of like it.

I wonder if SUCLA’s Mora was offended by the remark, or was just sorry he didn’t think of it first.

  11. OMG!!! Boracho is CRACKING under the PRESSURE!!!

showing up sloppy drunk at a booster event??? having to crawl out with a big hangover and apologize???

maybe Borracho better check himself into a rehab facility and get dried out before he shows up to a game plowed and pulls a Joe Nammath!!!!

    #YetANOTHERblackEyeForClownCollege

  12. Hahaha!!! I don’t anyone was truly that worried that somebody wouldn’t do something stupid before the start of the season! But I think BoDog had the odds on El Siete at like 20-1. Unbelievable

  13. “He’s lost the team” – Sua Cravens

Lol.. .Christmas came early boys and guess what I got you rah rahs, it starts with a D ends with an O!!
