No Alcohol In Locker Room

A senior source tells me alcohol will not be allowed in the USC locker room this season.

Color me naive but doesn’t that go without saying in any school locker room ?

    • I’m very surprised by that comment as well. There should never be alcohol in the locker room. But knowing the source, there probably never has been alcohol present and Scottie is trying to manufacture a story.

      • Bingo Helen. Same old crap from a tired old writer. I keep hearing he may replace Wang.

      • No manufacturing here. Just reporting facts. Sunshine is the best disinfectant.

      • If it’s not true then sark can file a defamation of character suit against wolf. So far he hasn’t.

        • Now it appears that alcohol is only present in the coaches’ locker room and not the players – as Scottie implied. If, in fact, Scottie has deleted his tweet based on legal advice then he must be scared of some legal repercussions.

    • Yeah you would think. What maybe a quarter of the team could legally drink anyway. If there really was booze in the locker room, Haden get a grip!

    • The ”senior source” of ”No alcohol in the “Locker Room” means the coaches’ locker room, right? Or have USC standards so decayed under Sarkisian and Haden that maybe booze, just maybe, possibly, was consumed by players, too? Naw, couldn’t be…perish the the thought.

      • Coaches locker room or offices sounds more reasonable when players have left. Haden needs to address the alcohol policy for locker room, McKay Center, etc., access for players and coaches.

  2. In hindsight it was coo-coo Crazy for Paddy O’Hadden to allow Sark to booze in the locker room, but WOLFMAN as usual you were WAAAAAAAY ahead of the rest on this point!!

  3. Sugar is addictive. Just ask over 90% of the population.

Alcohol can be addictive. Just ask over 5% of the population

So don’t keep these items within reach or easy retrieval.

  4. In retrospect, LenDale’s sideline tequila habit makes a little more sense.

“I learned it by watching you, Sark!”

  5. The complete lack of reply by USC in this regard is deafening silence. It leads me to belive the profligate rot goes all the way to the top. We are earning our reputation as the University of Spoiled Children here.

    • Couldn’t agree with you more. How Sark is not suspended for at least two games is mind boggling, because a player would get worse. I know Pat Haden is a smart man, but he is incompetent as an AD. I’ve stated before, I think both need to be shown the door.

      • Why 2 games? Is there precedence for demanding 2 games? If this were a coach you supported would you still demand the suspension? If Haden had given the job to Ed would he still be incompetent? What is it you want 2 games or “shown the door”, you seem to say you want both?

        • Congratulations SoCalNative… you and the rest of the 7ark apologists are officially part of the Problem. A central theme for too much of the SC Nation… Dead Wrong and too ignorant/arrogant to care. El Siete shoud be doing one Step for each of his 12-games this season. Anything less is an utter confirmation of the rotten culture at FigTech.

          • 9ark, fixed it for you. Now tell us about recruiting violations and your coach. Lying to recruits about the majors you offer. Kettle bells. How’s snoops pup doing?

          • Yeap, rough Summer for the Bruins, alright. Some real dustups, misfires, for sure. We took our licks, made some changes, still learning how to Win (and how much Hollywood BS comes along with it). But it’s all to the good. We’re better for it.

Tell ya what though, this Fall (and I do mean “fall”) is gonna even rougher on you. By the time you all return from South Bend, CUTTY 7ARK will have the shakes from his Patron withdrawals and Wolfie will be helping Pat Hayden look for a new Coach.

By Sunday 11/29, I want you back here helping Wolfie out his Search, too. K?

      • Im not SW if that is what you’re implying. My prior name is 10 commandments from last season so ive been here more than 12 hours. I see that you’re now following me, thank you for that. Maybe i’m striking a nerve? Im alumni and am absolutely apalled by the lack of response here. Bill Plashke had a great article in the LAT today. Coach most likely needs help most and I’m being steadfast in that the USC should do so for evryone involved including those, above him. If not, the rot will continue and we will not get better as a family.

        • Did he violate any laws? Did he physically assault anyone? Did he do anything others at the party didn’t do? Don’t forget, it was a party.

He didn’t show good judgment, we can all agree on that. As HC he needs to set a better example. Mack Brown suggest a perfectly plausible reason. Aside from this incidents are there any past incidents that would support your assertion he has a problem? If yes please tell me.

The coach and AD have made statements. It was perfectly clear the AD condemned his actions and the coach apologized and has assured everyone it will not happen again. Is there a reason we can’t take the man at his word and move forward?

You say you’re alumni, I have no reason to doubt you; so stop acting like a troll.

          • OK maybe I can characterize this in other terms than concern for Coaches health. Last year he lost 2 games, Utah and ASU that the team should have won but they were completely disorganized at the end of both games. The team was horribly unprepared for Boston College and UCLA and were embarrassed. A consistently clean and sober coach would be clear headed, well prepared and ready to pull out 3 of those games. Im not sure it would have mattered against UCLA in the end as they kicked our a-ses. What bowl do you think we go to? What better recruits might we get? Do you think his salary justifies winning games and not dropping games to inferior opposition? BTW, coach is now saying he was also on medication. Non-problem drinkers do not drink alcohol on medication PERIOD! If you think its OK for USC to have an untreated problem drinker as coach than we can disagree but I’m sure that you’re going to be in the minority.

          • So your medical degree is from? You’re as certified substance abuse counselor right? I don’t know what medication sark takes, but I do know there are any number of reasons you can be taking medication and it has a adverse effect. For instance if a diabetic doesn’t eat properly a drink, 1, can cause your blood sugar to crash and result in symptoms very much like intoxication. I’m no substance abuse counselor, but I know this is a fact.
You have your agenda, your ax to grind. If he has been required to see a professional, and it appears Pat has required that; maybe we can let them make the determination. PERIOD, OK, SC, BTW.

          • You’re right about the diabetic effect but does that explain the on stage sweating, insults to other programs and sexual innuendos to female athletes in front of their parents? Nope but being intoxicated does. The team has required up and downs which is more than what Pat has appeared to ask for here. My ax to grind is that USC is being hypocritical. They booze it up to solicit donations and then get “surprised” when the coach gets busted. And a two finger salute to you (not Fight On)!

          • The sweats are part of hypoglycemia, (cold and dry sugars high, hot and clammy feed them candy). I am not saying Sark’s a diabetic, only there is no reason to doubt he was on medication and it played a role in the incident. I don’t know if he has a problem, neither do you. This one incident doesn’t prove anything, but it is cause for concern. If there are others, I don’t know about them, do you? If this was Ed O would you be here? You obviously have an agenda and if you can’t admit that, you’ve got a problem. You make a new account and show up on this site when the story broke and start trolling. Scooter is not a objective source of USC news, he’s an antagonist. He prides himself in the fact he always take the adversarial position to the USC Athletic Dept. Anyone who doesn’t have their head up the … knows this.

        • Its called an oxymoron. Im not trolling. Just very concerned for Coach’s health and the wellbeing of his players.

          • The only oxymoron here is you Troll. I never thought so many new Trolls could creep out of the woodwork like this at once. This place is an official roachfest. Which ones’s your daddy little gutty?

    • Not so fast. Quite frankly, it’s none of our business. The university will take care of it.

      • Do you work in Heritage Hall? Shoot the messenger is not a viable strategy.

          • Id venture that my USC connections are as solid as any person’s on this blog. Notwithstanding, my observations are on point and your tactics are to make fun of the messenger. Keep up with that and I’ll keep up with common sense tyvm.

          • I highly doubt it. If you did, you’d know what is going on. You don’t, you’re 1/2 step above the trolls. Also, your observations are baseless and pointless.

  6. Scott wolf tweeted this on his Twitter account, and fox sports writer Stewart Mandel retweeted it. This story locker room ban has gone viral now. So many college football fans are shaking their heads right now. They are saying why was alcohol ever allowed in the locker room. Crazy! USC seriously needs a PR firm right now.

  7. It’s one of those odd vestiges from another time – beer in the locker room. Sort of like chew in dugouts, etc. If anything good comes from this embarrassing incident, dropping the alcohol in the locker rooms is a good one. On a related note, I’m a little disappointed that beer sales will be coming back to all Pac-12 schools during games. Can’t imagine that will help the temperament of the crows (even though they all get tanked before entering the games now…)
