Sarkisian Said Alcohol Consumed Was `Not A Lot’ Saturday

Steve Sarkisian said he did not drink much Saturday night. “Not a lot” was the exact quote. He also said he performed up-downs as a punishment selected by the team yesterday.

”He came back drenched in sweat,” Cody Kessler said.

Up-downs as punishment for an alcohol-fueled rant? That sounds proper.

  1. Don’t have much to say today except that? There goes your 15 minutes of fame as a TMZ reporter.

  2. Sark behind closed doors , apologized to his team.He answered their questions. He met with the teams leadership group. He asked them for punishment, their response “Up-downs.”
He’s done them and has more to do.Team communication, not the media, not the fans .This is players to coach.Let them go the process. There was more to the not a lot quote… Let the process unfold.. Back to football.

  3. All of us have done something that we wish no one knew about and the more fortunate ones (depending on said act) are the ones that the ‘act’ is out there already – so it is with Sarkisian – done and done.

peter has it right – he has this now on his chest and back – there is no ‘second chance’ here and it just might be the making of a great career on his part. Regardless of the rest of his life this shall follow Sark for with the fame comes also the monitoring.

His life is now under a microscope form this point on and he well knows it.

  4. Not a lot… I guess that’s relative. Would “too much” also be relatively accurate?

  5. This is almost comical, now. And yet so predictable. As has been pointed out, he’s branded himself now – for good. Doesn’t matter what he says, 90% of us don’t believe him. For his sake, I hope he shapes up and I hope his children aren’t bearing the brunt of his shameful performance.

    • Feel bad for Sark. He needs to get his life in order. He has plenty of resources at SC to assist him, but it’s difficult to see how he survives past this season. He doesn’t come across like the CEO of a top program. He may pull it off with all the talent he has at his disposal, but the odds are a little longer than they seemed a few days ago.

You are certainly in the know. Do you think Haden and Nikias are simply circling the wagons or exploring a replacement?

      • I don’t believe there is any search whatsoever going on. I do believe that for the first time, Haden knows his experiment may not be working and that he might have to make a move at season’s end, unless Sark falls apart sooner. I agree. He looked like a “little boy lost” at his press conference. Aside from that, it’s all about the W/Ls now. Your basic cluster from a USC fan’s point of view.

      • ProbationU, do you make $3 million a year? Or will it take your lifetime to make that much?

He sounds as if he does not need “to get his life in order” as you judgmentally declare.

        • No JW, I do not make $3 million a year. I am retired and have done just fine in life.

“Getting your life in order” is not a concept that is related to monetary success. There are plenty of people with money that are screwed up. I don’t really understand that logic.

As far as Sark, it sounds like he has some family issues as well as the pressure of the SC job and at a bare minimum, poor judgment or more seriously a possible addiction. Money doesn’t address those. It just gives someone more options in how to address the situation.

Yes, I am a Bruin. I don’t dislike Sark. He seems like a decent guy going through a tough time. The press conference showed a guy with the weight of the world on his shoulders, IMO. He needs to get some help. The SC Football Head Coach job is not for the faint of heart.

      • Feel bad for a lazy fat no talent that befriended the right guy for 2 high paying jobs he is not qualified to have … really

  6. Sark has to step aside to dry out, he will not be the HC come opening day…get ready for Clay Helton…he is solid..

  7. All of the local press is going to hound him and SC until some blood has spilled as in a job loss

  8. The other guy who looks just as bad is Pat Haden, he appears weak and indecisive in this situation. Wish it never happened….

  9. So Sark says he didn’t drink much Saturday night. That means he didn’t drink enough to fall down.

  10. I don’t believe for one minute Steve Sarkisian mixed drugs with alcohol, but that’s just me. I think he believes that story takes a little bit of heat off of him, but it actually makes it seem like he’s in denial. I believe Sarkisian is exactly who the bloggers up in Washington say he is, a heavy drinker, and a womanizer. And if you connect the dots since his arrival at USC, starting with his wife filing for divorce, the picture is becoming quite clear, to me!

    • Well, if you are correct in your theory, I hope for his sake and the football program, this is the start of his maturing and changing his behavior. Divorce and public embarrassment should be the 2X4 upside the head!

      • You don’t understand an alcoholic or any other addicted person. Shame does not cure addiction. Divorce and public embarrassment doesn’t cure the disease. Embarrassment only works for people who are not addicted.

  11. Would have much more effective if he had to do the Up and Downs Saturday night while he was still hammered.

  12. Hey Cody … Lazy fat Sark is 70 lbs overweight of course he sweats and smells
