USC Picture Of The Day

USC.1990The 1990 USC football team was honored last weekend at Salute to Troy on its 25th anniversary and plenty of players showed up, including QB Todd Marinovich, who told me coming back to the campus reminded him of some fond times. The news from Salute to Troy overtook the reunions, so here is picture from that season featuring tailback Ricky Ervins against Stanford.

  1. I remember this TD. It was in 1989. Leroy Holt got one that day, too. It was an ugly win. Stanford sucked that year, and we barely won. Got just three points out of our first three trips into the red zone. But a win’s a win, and we win the Rose Bowl that year, despite losing to Notre Dame and tying the Bruins on that crazy crossbar bounce.

  2. “The news from Salute to Troy overtook the reunions.” No, you simply chose wall-to-wall coverage of Sark instead of reporting on the reunions. It was a choice. Don’t act like you didn’t have room in your blog or time to post that image. That’s the beauty of the internet.

    • Well, when your head coach goes on a drunken rank fueled by meds, that kinda trumps everything else.

  3. 2017 USC recruiting target QB Tua Tagovailoa of St. Louis High Hawaii was 28-37, 400 yards, 5 TDs against Liberty, Nevada.

    Pretty good night for him.

  4. I can’t wait to hear what Desmond Howard has to say after we beat Stanford in the Coliseum. Stanford is Howard’s pick to win the National Championship.

    • Not gonna be easy up there. I would like to see the ESPN guys proven wrong by the Trojans. I think they will be critical of SC for the way Sark was handled.

  5. Todd Marinovich, there’s a character. His dad trying to mold him. Flunking out of Art class. Was a pretty good QB all things considered. Hope he’s doing alright.
