Winners And Losers Of The Week

SARK.HADENWinners

Steve Sarkisian

Survived Salute to Troy scandal without any punishment. That’s a good week

Greg Townsend

After long wait, senior defensive end poised for first career start

Chris Hawkins

Gets first start of career at safety against Arkansas State

Mark Jackson

I’m guessing before he left USC to become athletic director at Villanova, he got some type of assurance he would still be top candidate to succeed Pat Haden.

Salute to Troy

A fairly tame event will be a hot ticket next year just to see what happens.

Losers

Steve Sarkisian

He’s on double-secret probation for rest of season and had two days of up-downs from the players

Pat Haden/Max Nikias

Took a beating from national media and some fans for failing to punish Sarkisian

Coaching staff

The post-game locker room just became a lot less interesting with new alcohol ban

Sun Belt Conference schedule

The back-to-back games against Arkansas State and Idaho are finally here!

  1. Is Wolf going to start providing EPL updates now that the college football season is starting?

  2. LOSERS…..South Central AND The EXECUTIVE Search firm hired and paid to provide the list of candidates for the head coaching position….Wouldn’t a simple background check show that CUTTY had issues with booze….,but then again…we are talking about a CLOWN SCHOOL…..

    • Loser – Always Trai Mex. Self explanatory.
Winner – Us!!! Because we need someone to laugh at.

  3. Winner: PAC12 channel booked the first 2 games of the season for USC.
Loser: USC fans without access to PAC 12-the lamest broadcast since Mike Garret put the Trojans on The Mighty 690 (a south of the border radio station with low wattage after dark)
Winner: sports writers everywhere who can spend the next month running with Cuddy Sark jokes.
Loser: fans who believe their team is being run aground on a booze filled clipper ship.

      • When I was a kid, the games came from KFI the clear channel station I could pick up in the middle of nowhere.
You are right 710 is where it is now and has been for a while but there were a few years when it moved from a powerful LA based station to a station in Tijuana.
Also 710 isn’t a clear channel station and drops to 10,000 watts after dark per FCC. The local (inland empire) repeating station is very low wattage output. I owned a CB radio that broadcast further. So if I want radio signals I must use my phone. Not a great win for fans

  4. Sark was a winner. His rationale of mixing meds and alcohol only created further doubts when you see a list of drugs that create the effect he exhibited. He is not successfully deploying the Hillary Clinton email strategy of deny, deny, deny. I think SoCal players know or suspect what really went on.
Thanks for the non-stop drama, Trojan A.D!
You can’t make this stuff up.

  5. Sark is on a very short leash, one false move and he’s back at the San Fernando valley kiosk

  6. Winners-College football fans the season is starting

Losers-Scott Wolf blog readers- They need a life.

    • Hey buddy, SW blog is insane with not stop Sark crap..just want football at this time..Over this past week I’ve heard respected national CFB people blast SW…….on to. Football, our game Saturday by all talk should be blowout… But looking at Ark. St.and their history shows they are not a cal poly, or the cupcake most make them out to be…I have no doubt we win, probably 21 or more. However last year Tennessee beat them by 14,Miami by 21,and they have recent history 3 years of their coach, coaching 1 year then on to SEC..3 straight coaches.. ( Boise 1)..My point is that this game has the potential to give us a better tune up than most think.. Which would be good.. Idaho is a cup cake, but I think Ark. St can be good for a start.

      • I hear ya. Gus Malzon was their coach three years ago, the new Boise St. Coach was they’re coach two years ago. So they’re program has been built up to compete. I think we’ll come out winning by at least 28. I’m guessing they’re a big spread team and put up points so it might be interesting. I don’t see us in a nail biter, but they could come out ready .

        • Cam Smith starting.Dawson out one game..All 3 freshman to get carries (so probably no redshirt)… New punter Tilbey practicing, is blue shirt, play this year…So I guess he counts as 2016 ?……fun game, I live in mountains, trying to find a place to watch it.. Few people have PAC 12 net.

          • I heard Tilbey was a 2015 somehow. You have to watch it bro! Get to a sports bar. Start calling all the pizza places and bars and asking if they carry The PAC 12 Network. You can’t miss it!

          • It drives me crazy beautiful lake and mountain where I live, but the two sports bars are direct TV.cable charter…. No PAC 12.But I keep looking.

          • Hopefully you can find a spot. The Stanford game is on ABC. And the ASU game will be on either Fox, ESPN, or ABC so at least you will be able to see those good games!

  7. Winners-UCLA fans, who had a field day, making fun of Steve Sarkisan, and USC all week.

Losers-USC fans, who have to hear about their football program once again embarrassing their proud school.

    • Ismael Adams of ucla was just arrested for stealing an iPhone. While it is not as newsworthy as drunkgate, I am sure usc fans aren’t too upset.

    • Wolfie has a big background in Human Resources. Or maybe he was an arbitrator, even a judge in a past life. He seems to have very keen insight into justice, eh?

  8. apparently the moderators around here think the executive search firm that handled the CUTTY hiring did a thorough job in the ‘vetting’ process. They should have known CUTTY had a history of drunkeness and brought it to everyones attention….SOUTH CENTRAL is the real LOSER HERE….

  9. It’s the little things that Steve Sarkisian does that bugs me, like calling Pat Haden out of the stands last season, to help him dispute a call with the referee during a game. What national championship coach does that ? Urban Meyer ? Nick Saban ? Does anybody think Jim Harbaugh would do that ? Sarkisian is too immature to lead a program like USC, and I think it’s a shame the fans have to endure the guy until Haden comes to his senses . The picture up above pretty much tells it all …smh !
