Is Larry Scott Actually Getting Pac-12 Any More Respect?

Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott was at USC (actually the Radisson Hotel across the street) Wednesday night with Pat Haden speaking about the state of college football. But Scott should probably talk about how well his Pac-12 is being treated these days.

Fox Sports 1 slobbered over Michigan and ignored Utah heading into tonight’s game between the Utes and Wolverines. There was the Harbaugh Khaki Bus Tour and there will even be a Khaki cam focused on Harbaugh tonight. And the only reason Fox got the game is because it’s part of the Pac-12 contract. Here’s a good summary.

And there is the fact USC-Arkansas State game on the Pac-12 Network remains unavailable to DirecTV subscribers. Eventually it should be solved now that AT&T owns DirecTV but Scott gets no credit for that merger.

  1. Larry Scott has been a poor leader for the pac12. He can’t close the deal with direc tv, has no idea what to do next and is the mastermind that brought that perennial power house Colorado into the conference.

    • I hear the local CBS affiliate in San Diego doesn’t have a Direct TV contract. Maybe the problem isn’t all with the Pac 12.

      • How can you not love going from sea level to 6000 ft.+ in cold weather to play?
Colorado will see some .500 seasons soon.PAC 12 top to bottom, accounting for all sports is best in country.. Scott is fair at best.
As far as TCU,right now I’m OK with the PAC 12 South. Put TCU in instead of Colorado, and nobody makes it to final 4.

        • Oklahoma …Really ? They have a Steve Sarkisian clone coaching over there, the Pac 12 doesn’t need two coaches that win just enough games not to get fired…lol And Texas doesn’t need the Pac12 .

          • He’s won a National Title. And has made three Title game appearances. That’s gotta hold some weight and respect. And at the time of realignment Texas and Oklahoma were very relevant.
Texas needs triple bypass surgery on their program. It’s one thing that Strong has to rebuild it. I get that. But he’s letting the best players in Texas go to A&M or worse leaving the state.

          • When was the last time Oklahoma was relevant ? The locals wanted Bob Stoops to resign last season, and recruiting has been down the last 4 or 5 years. Stoop will be a 8 win kind of coach for the rest of this time at Oklahoma, because he can’t seem to keep up with the new coaches he’s been having to face. I may be wrong, but we will see at the end of the season.

          • Well you have to admit. OK has been an up and down program. But I certainly wouldn’t start a new conference with TCU and Baylor over Texas and Oklahoma. That’s just silly on all aspects. Football, basketball, baseball. Those two programs are more fitting.

  2. Have you seen the ” stellar ” games on the Pac 12 network ? Who would want to watch those horrid games ?

  3. Not to worry as the first two home games on the PAC 12 can be seen live and in person if you want tickets Goldstar is practically giving them away. There is also the low wattage ESPN radio. Good luck getting that past West Covina

    • What is there to hype about Utah?! This is Harbaugh’s first game back at Michigan. What else is there to talk about? Wolf can be such a dope.

  4. Jim Harbaugh isn’t used running the ball on 3rd or 4th and 1 yard to go and stopped on consecutive downs. Welcome back to college football and say hello to the new PAC 12 Jimmy!

  5. Off Topic:
Ryan Bartow of 247sports has USC picked to win the National Championship. The PAC 12 is highly touted. I’ve seen analysts pick SC, ASU, Oregon, Stanford, Arizona as their choices to make the playoffs so this conference is for real. And I’m sure UCLA and Utah have been named in their best someone. Toughest Conference IMO. At least going into this season.
