Three Walk-Ons Earn Scholarships

Kicker Alex Wood, wide receiver Christian Tober and wide receiver George Katrib were awarded scholarships for this year. Katrib was also on scholarship last year so this is the second straight year he earned one.

  1. Awesome stuff from Lev’s blog: “Here’s what being 3-0 against USC gets you: virtually no local or national media scorn for one of your top lieutenants being suspended for recruiting violations; one of your player’s famous fathers swinging a kettlebell at one of your other assistants; berating your freshman quarterback in front of reporters; having one of your top players arrested on suspicion of felony robbery; and not releasing a Week 1 depth chart, even though it’s something your fans undoubtedly would like to peruse. It sure is good to be Jim Mora these days.”

    • You notice that no one in the media or nationally cares.. Josh Shaw story got more publicity.. ONLY BECAUSE ITS USC.. UCLA is irrelevant, but “They own LA” #Whatajoke!

    • and during the same three seasons….drunk tight end found sleeping in a dumpster after breaking and entering…..former star running back player told he is not welcome, head coach accused of being racist by player, balcony jumping becomes a so cal football athletic training event, school is sued by former players, coach appears drunk and dumb, hot box burritos make their debut, goat boy gets fired as he steps off plane….oh yea…two more tight ends get kicked off the team….one because of adkademiks, and the other because he supposedly sexually assaulted a trainer.
Before deleting this post….perhaps the moderator should take a close look at the post prior to this one……..

  2. Great for these kids! I think this blog needs to give honorary Trojan status to Charles T Buckets III, Jaey Metaphorically speaking, Ted-Loco, and UGLYRents.

  3. Years ago, a friend, who was a walk-on, was awarded a scholarship and I was able to bear witness to part of the party that his parents threw… which turned into a two plus day Bacchanalia. Walk-ons being awarded for all of their anonymous work is one of the cooler aspects of college football. Congrats to the players and their families.

    • Absolutely..!!!All 3 and all the walk on’s that show up and dedicate themselves to their team , teammates and school deserve the greatest respect..
These last few years, the program should have a special place for all the walk on’s ,their names inscribed and posted for being there during sanctions.

  4. That means that 3 sets of parents can afford to go out for dinner now. That helps the economy and creates jobs. USC building a better America. Fight On!!

  5. It has nothing to do with the hard work the walk-ons perform in practice. Don’t you know everyone works hard. Thought the Trojans are desperate for scholarships being way under the allotted amount. If they used 25 for 2015 which is max for one season then no problema. Look at the # of non-scholarship players in other sports who are starters paying their own way. Alex Wood wouldn’t be at USC the past couple of years if his family couldn’t afford it. Maybe Adoree Jackson can lateral to one of the two receivers on his way to the end zone. My family paid full tuition for three years after going to Jr. College.
