The Goooold Sheet

The venerable betting publication, the Gold Sheet, picks USC to defeat Arkansas State, 49-25.

“ASU’s fast-paced attack had 33 TD drives that took less than two minutes of clock time last season. But maybe HC Blake Anderson should slow things down a bit, as defense was often merely an afterthought for the Red Wolves, whose thin unit gave up 28 TD runs in their last seven games and 180 combined points in their last four.”

  1. Mr Wolf:
Seeing the word venerable in your post makes me wonder if anybody has ever used that word describing your work. (excluding Mr Bucket ) My guess is vulnerable is a more appropriate word for your body of work.

      • Mr Tama:
I come here to get your insightful takes on USC football. I’m sure most of the regents at USC will be watching the game closely and will have Mr Wilcox’s walking papers ready.

      • That loser was banned repeatedly for his obscene and vulgar posts. He has come back yet again under three handles: The One The Only, John Wooden and Veritas. He is obsessed with Scott Wolf.

      • Because he has been stalking Scott for many years now under various names. like gollom-wolf.

    • I heard your performance in Ventura last Saturday night was described as “venerable”, g’noiddd.

    • At least a step in that direction, since last year they scored 19 and 20 points against Tenn. and Miami. They may get a score or two in the first half and of course there’s the garbage time score SC seems to give up. Anything over 20 should be considered a loss for the defense.

      • Ark St has a pretty good qb and some good receivers. They also are pretty good on defense. I don’t know why everyone thinks this is a cupcake, except the trolls who don’t matter.

    • What if Wilcox pulls the 1’s at the half and plays the 2’s and 3’s the second half? If I were coaching this team I would get my 1’s some good work in the 1st half and if the game was secure I wouldn’t risk them. Sit them the 2nd haldf and get a look at the freshmen. Same thing next week.

  2. I’m ignoring the first two games, because they will tell me nothing about how far along USC is, so check back with be when they play Stanford, and Arizona State back to back. Then I’ll give my evaluation of Steve Sarkisian.

      • I’m trying to give Steve Sarkisian the benefit of the doubt, because personally I think he’s a “just win enough games not to get fired” type of coach, and there is nothing about him that says.. “I can get to the playoffs, and beat the likes of a Urban Meyer”… . But I’m going to see what he can do after one year under his belt, but because of his lack of leadership skills, I doubt if USC will shine this season.
