Where Was Adoree Jackson?

JACKSON.IDAHOCornerback Adoree Jackson barely played any offense against Stanford, getting in for two series and no touches.

“I thought I was going to be on the offense more,” Jackson said. “I wasn’t tired, I was ready to go.”

Here’s the dilemma for the coaches: With Kevon Seymour apparently hurt, USC was down to Iman Marshall, Jackson and Jonathan Lockett at cornerback. So keep Jackson on defense.

But is Jackson special or not? And there are plenty of safeties who could play too. And Chris Hawkins was originally a cornerback. So there were other options. But that doesn’t matter because Jackson doesn’t get tired. Take him off punt returns if he needs a break. But get him the ball when you have less than 30 plays in the second half and need to pull out a victory. Frankly, I’ve been disappointed in how Jackson’s been used this season.

  1. Just a touch hypocritical of you, Scottie. Just 10 days ago, you were complaining that Jackson was being overused. And if defense is the real problem, as everyone is acknowledging (esp with Seymour hurt), you would cry bloody murder if if Adoree had 15 – 20 more plays on offense. A few additional plays? Sure. But don’t insist on taking both sides of the issue when it suits you.

  2. you crybabies need to get the off this site and head on over to rah rah CENTRAL…. become roomates with arbogassss, …kick it at gary p’s, place, or klein’s dump,..You’ve got choices…This isn’t home on the range………………….

  3. Mr Jackson was in the Stanford end zone when K heaved the KU last second Hail Mary pass to come within 3 points short of tying the game.

Mr Jackson wound up on his duff as K’s pass fell incomplete. Why Adoree was in the end zone is baffling, because AJ is a Broad Jumper, not a High Jumper.

  4. One thing I know, taking him off punt returns is a moot point when your defense can’t stop anybody.

  5. Frankly I am glad he doesn’t get the ball more. As I have seen him this season I have seen a selfish unskilled player with a touch of speed, who thinks he should score every time he gets the ball.
He grabbed a punt inside the 5 yard line thinking “I’m special nobody will catch me”. But as usual he put the team in a hole. He frequently gives up yardage hoping he can break away.
He needs learn to be realistic. Until he does keep him where he is making tackles.

  6. Definitely was needed in the 2nd half on offense. He opens up the secondary when he and Smith-Schuster are on the field at the same time. Think Smith could play some safety in a reverse situation with the lousy coverage all night. No turnovers for the 2nd game in a row. Iman Marshall was pathetic for most of the game. He is not in high school anymore.

    • He did get his jock twisted on that play. Then he’s digging at the turf like ” who put this piece of ice here?”!

  7. “Apparently Kevon Seymour was hurt” yes Scott he is hurt. This game proves the ridiculous notion that Seymour had been replaced by Marshall. His tackling and cover skills were sadly missed in this game and the fact was with him out it did affect the gametime Jackson lost on offense.

Lastly offense did not cost us this game. I cannot name a team that played for a national championship with an average d line. We have an average d line at best. Most of us have known this was the biggest question on the team

    • You are correct on both points. The problem was not AJ not on offense. It was the D Line getting pushed around, Marshall not being able to cover, and AJ getting juked on the one touchdown for Stanford.

  8. I missed the game, did Mr. Special “Adore me” Jackson get his first career interception or is he still without one?
