The Goooold Sheet

The venerable gambling publication, the Gold Sheet, picks Arizona State to defeat USC, 35-30. “ First road game for Troy, which is 2-5 vs. the number last 7 as visitor.”

    • Go Tama,
Us real Tojans do not appreciate your negativity. Even with a loss on Saturday we are well positioned for another Bowl game in December. This would be a lock without all the pressure you are placing on his staff. A better idea would be an extension for Sark so he can feel the love and focus on football. FIGHT ON!

    • Haden doesn’t deserve to make the next hire. Nor should he. He is pretty much 0-3 (Kiffin, Sark and Enfield).

If USC loses, odds are 50/50 they fail to qualify for a bowl. If they can’t beat ASU, they won’t beat Oregon (road), UCLA (home), ND (road). You are looking at a five loss season, minimum. That mean USC would have to go 4-1 against Washington (home), Arizona (home), Utah (home), Cal (road), Colorado (road) just to be bowl eligible. Best scenario I see with that schedule is 3-2, but could easily go 2-3.

      • Don’t forget Frank Cruz for baseball, though he did hire Stubbs who at least has the baseball program headed in the right direction.

And you’re right, Haden doesn’t deserve to make the next hire, he should be fired as well.

        • It’s Hobbs, but Hobbs was already within the program. It’s not like Haden reached out and found him.

Under Haden the athletic department had to negotiate buyouts for Sark and crew from Washington, while paying off the last staffs salaries (Orgeron, Pendergast, etc.). I would guess the school won’t be happy buying out Sark. I am guessing that after next year, most everyone can be fired without a significant payoff, but the school can’t be happy with Haden’s terrible coaching decisions because they cost it money.

That’s why if the season plays out as some fear, 6-6 or 5-7, Sark sticks around another year but Haden “retires”, citing health concerns, and moves over to being “Chairman” of the Coliseum Renovation Committee. No changes are made with the current staff, the new AD comes in, fires Sark and Andy after the 2016 seasons.

  1. Excellent reference Wolf – based on these guy’s record, we can safely assume SC will win – what a relief! Maybe they should look at Sark’s record coming off a loss – tell those guys to call me, I have a bet to place

  2. Bet the farm, Scott…. bet the farm…. and please include the livestock (trolls), while you’re at it…..

    • Your the only troll I see here. Your unrealistic expectations and lack of support is staggering. Give Sark a chance to shine like he did in 2003. Your sky is falling attitude isn’t helping anything or anyone.

        • I am seeing a little frustration in your comments, maybe a Sea Salt bath with some lightly scented candles will brighten the mood. It always does for me and my partner. I see your trapped in the closet you seem to have put yourself in. I believe its time to step out. Hope this helps. Your welcome! This is what friends are for. Fight On Buddy!

  3. Gold Sheet failed on the Stanford game, and hopefully they’ll fail again! Venerable – not so much….

    • Yeah, they do the conventional wisdom thing effectively. For once, I’d like to see an organization like this pick the heavy underdog to win – and have it happen! Did they come close to picking Ohio State in either of the playoff games last year? Hell no! They don’t have any real insight that the Vegas consultants don’t.

    • What do you mean?… Kiffin was GREAT against the spread…. according to Nick Saban’s daughter…..

  4. We left the beach early and headed out of town for Tempe. It’s so beautiful out here. I love being “on the road again,” as Willy Nelson would say. We stopped for a great lunch a few miles back and there were quite a few Trojans there. Now were on final approach to the hotel. We’ll be dancing the night away at GypsyBar.

  5. The same venerable gambling publication that predicted SC would beat Stanford? Gambling experts are wrong just as much as the public.

    • If they were right all the time they would live at Vegas and not tells us about all their millions they were making.

  6. Vegas had SC by 10 over Stanford and they lost by 10. They have SC by 5 over ASU. So makes sense SC goes down by 5. Don’t go with that short term trend. Wilcox simply under estimated Stanford’s O Line. He will have his Defense dialed in for the Spread Offenses in the rest of the conference. Take SC, they will be hungry for a win.

  7. UCLA will win their game against Arizona. Why? Because we ALWAYS win on the road! USC will probably not beat ASU because of of the turmoil surrounding the trojan program right now. Doesn’t matter what the gold sheet says, usc is going down.

  8. If USC wins it will be strictly on emotion, because they will have plenty of that tomorrow night, but I won’t dismiss the coaching ability of Todd Graham, either. And if it comes down to that, Arizona State will come out on top.

  9. Scott, if this prediction comes true, you may want to hang out on the tarmac at LAX Sunday morning. As the team team is not being coached there is no reason for a buyout – unsatisfactory job performance is a reason for termination (as well as many other things our famous troll base can point out)
