USC/Utah Question

If Utah’s jerseys said USC, how much higher would the 10th-ranked Utes be ranked after victories over Michigan and Oregon?

  1. Jack Wang of Inside UCLA gets to go on “Inside PAC-12 Football” show and talk about the Bruins……..
    I didn’t see Scott Wolf…..

        • maybe you still believe that ‘RONALD’ kid is gonna lead the pac 12 in rushing….BIG HAT, NO CATTLE….
76 total TEAM yards rushing against ariz st. Go back to sleep…

        • Perkins is very good. Runs well, catches the ball well and blocks well. Consistently underrated.

          • Speaking of Ervins. After Mazio Royster SC had a pretty good drought for good running backs until Pete came. Maybe you can throw in Shawn Walters and Delon Washington, but they both had off the field trouble if I remember correctly.

          • Larry Smith almost ruined the career of Mazio Royster, just because he didn’t like his attitude. Smith would make him sit on the bench, and bring him in at halftime. And lucky for Royster, the nfl scouts ignored what Smith was doing, so Royter was drafted in the later rounds of the draft. Smith was the one with the attitude, which is why he could’t recruit after running out of Ted Tollner’s players.

          • I guess it didn’t help that Marinovich was on the right field balcony on camera during a USC baseball game having a “good time” if you know what I mean.

          • Walters got in a bit of trouble for hawking his Trojan gear on the side. I don’t remember anything with Washington.

          • He’s definitely underrated. Royce Freeman might be the best back in the conference. But I’d put Perkins up there with him.

    • Thanks for posting , bringing attention to the Century team.Interesting to see the votes .Every RB deserves their spot .Yes Kaufman should be in conversation. Allen’s my vote. With 7 Trojans, votes get scattered. Muncie was great to watch, heck all on list were. Bell has 1% of votes, he was a great Trojan, deserves his spot with the greats.

        • Bulldog was his nickname.. He flat out punished between the tackles. In the Kingdome against a good Washington St team, Jack Thompson QB, he had 51 carries 347 yards.
Great Trojan.. Rest in Peace… Reading about that game, Robinson’s great comments.. Great read..

          • W.St’s QB is Samoan.. His nick name was”The Throwing Samoan”..one of W.St’s best… Bell passed at 29 of Heart attack. If you get the chance to look up Ricky Bell’s story on Trojan site, its a good one. You come away with appreciation of his contributions…

          • A two year hospital stay. Some kind of muscle or heart disease. With a skin disease also. Correct me if I’m off. Sounded rare. Tony Dorsett or Ricky Bell? My dad would talk after a day of drinking and say “Ricky Bell was just as good as all the other great Trojan RBs”.

          • Muscle and heart disease, yes rare. Was positive and one of the guys until he passed..Tony Dorset, east coast Pitt rb, was a great, elusive quick, once he got to back field he was gone. Heisman. East coast bias….. Bell would run over the defenders. One AA LB after a loss that Bell just beat them up. He would hurt the defense and out physical them. Dorset was great back, pros to. Bell would carry four defenders five yards, stop brush them off and get another 3 yards. Haven’t seen the likes of him, except maybe Texas Rb earl cambell

          • I believe Jack Thompson is related to a Torgan poster who went by the handle of…’The Hard Blowin’ Samoan’….He’s ‘da brudda’ that came out with that clever…’ our 65 are better than your 85′ a few years ago. After a couple of years of getting WAXED by UCLA he kind of disappeared into that Big Luau in the sky….I really miss that guy…He was always saying he wanted to bust some heads….but I think he was just looking for hug’s from ‘da cadre’.

      • A lot of the voting went on during PAC 12 media days. Deshaun Foster could’ve been better than he was at UCLA if he didn’t get suspended and hurt. He was pretty good.

        • Googled it, and there are about ten different publications that picked all-time pac-12 teams. Many different choices, and many great players left out.

          • Hey aren’t you that gal from ‘down under’ that got found out on the UCLA girl’s softball team?

          • Yep! I might have attended UCLA on a soccer scholarship, but I’m not sure. I don’t think I’m considered a UCLA alum because I did not have to attend classes. Told the coaches I was leaving as soon as the softball season was over. The NCAA didn’t like the set-up, and all hell broke loose.

          • The list I posted was from the weekly “Inside Pac12 Football” show that airs on the Pac12 Network. I don’t know exactly how they came up with the finalists. Pac12 media days had the Coaches, former players, and beat writers giving their opinions. But I think the public can vote.

          • Mr. Jack O: only get six Pac-12 Network stations, B-10, SEC, Dodgers, Lakers, et al. TWC for 8.99/mo. Had to take out a loan, but I got ’em all.

      • Jealous. Don’t feel too bad. I’d be a little jealous too and make catty remarks if the team I hated had 5 HEISMAN TROPHY WINNING RUNNING BACKS.

    • Muncie! Man remember when he was playing for the Chargers and he missed a game because he said he had a ‘flat tire’?

Nonetheless a great running back even with those crazy ‘goggles’!

    • Kenny Easley should have been on that team, along with Freeman McNeil, and Jerry Robinson. And by the way…Jack Wang is an Idiot, that clown couldn’t understand why Jim Mora Jr. called out Josh Rosen at their summer training camp, then wrote in a article that it was inappropriate for Mora to drop “F” Bombs at practice …lol

      • Fred I don’t know actually Wang sounds like what that publicly financed university ‘demands’ their ‘not female’ students both act and think like – castrated males.

    • Hugh and his sister Beverly went to my high school…also a Washington (108th & Denker in SW Los Angeles). He and Cameron were High School Gods back in the day. Wish he had gone to SC though.

    • Excellent point. Scottie discounts the team with USC on their jersey by at least 10 positions. So now we have a little insight into how Scottie fills out his weekly rankings… if the team has USC on their jersey then drop them 10 places because others will automatically rank them 10 positions higher just because of the jerseys.

    • Hey Tirebiter your post came back and bit you because you didn’t realize you are right but for the wrong reason i.e. you’re still UCLA and as such you can’t even think the position through – it takes Helen to clear it up for you – now come back with your ‘counter’ that won’t make any sense except to you.

      Unbelievable!

      • Um, Alvarado…go back to sleep. I’m not “UCLA.” Look closer at my avatar. And my post uses what’s called “sarcasm.” Helen gets it, you clearly don’t. So, this is my ‘counter’ that makes sense to everyone but you.

    • UTAH has premier coaching.. and they develop..(SEE 2009 UTAH TEAM) I think they would be ranked hire than 10 if they were USC, but USC Should not be ranked that high due to coaching

  2. If their jerseys said USC Wolf would be complaining about them playing Utah State and Fresno State.

  3. If Scott Wolf wrote for the New York Times…

Sorry, too much a stretch. Does “Highlights” have a sports page?

  4. I don’t know. Would they start out unranked like Utah was or would they have SC’s preseason ranking?

  5. cutty will be drinking again after the Washington, N. Dame, UTAAAH, Cal stretch…..0-4 is a possibility….2-2 would be a suckcess….Who’d of thought you’d be looking at SIX loses for the year…..
Utah rarely gets credit for playing TOUGH FOOTBALL……while south central is always played up….before they do their typical CRASH AND BURN…..with all kinds of lame excuses….
-if the ref hadn’t blown that call
-if the time keeper had stopped the clock…

-if the game would have been scheduled later in the afternoon when it wasn’t soooo hot
-if ‘he’ wouldn’t have been injured….
-if he didn’t have to attend school and instead only focus on football, he wouldn’t have been adkademikelly ineligible.
-if the cops wouldn’t have found him Drunk, passed out in the alley
-if we didn’t have such a difficult schedule after idaho and alky U..
It really is all about MYTHICAL Championships, HONORARY Degrees, and those Bronze Nike’s on MicKay….

    • We should beat Utah at the Gray Lady. However…
Your game against them at their house I believe will be your toughest test. When they have ‘home cookin’ (#$&%^ altitude) they are rougher than a cobb. Get by them up there and you will most likely win out…us included. But, let’s get a bet down. I’ll bet you a coke zero that the Utes beat cha’. I must warn you that I don’t lose my coke zero bets…you can check with Mr. Bucket on that one.
BTW, your ‘fo’ should be FtfO to be authentic.

      • Thanks, Larry….I’m a Diet Coke guy, ….and the bet is on….BTW…..Ayatolla Bucket and me SWEAR the food’s GREAT over at Dear John’s on the Westside…Sometimes he even picks up the check..(they serve Coke not Pepsi products).

  6. I’ve NEVER EVER met anyone from ‘the cultural center of The Western United States ‘, San Gorgonio….Are they all like you,

  7. Top 5. On another note,
Paul Perkins would be a top 3 Heisman candidate.
Some reasons why recruits go to SC.

  8. “Arturo from CSUN : Top 5. On another note,
Paul Perkins would be a top 3 Heisman candidate.
Some reasons why recruits go to SC.”

    True. And fair points.

Blame the first two points on PAC 12 Marketing. Credit the third point to USC being far better than either school for a long time.

Otoh, Adoree Jackson should probably be the top Heisman candidate but he doesn’t have the right image for SC to push, and USC fatigue, with all the drama, and the letdowns, etc. really work against him.

  9. SC is and always will be in the conversation for the greatest program of all-time. It is why i am such a big fan. Good Luck to Perkins though.

      • What is a Trogan? Based on your posts, u aré a Bruin fan, right? You have a good team this year. Don’t let your arch rival get under your skin so much that you have to use an alias that is so similar to their name. Writing posts that aré dripping with envy and bitternes doesn’t help your cause either. Hope this helps.

        Have a good one.

  10. Somebody please wake me up in November when the regular season has ended and we will all know who the Final-4 are.

Prior to that it is all conjecture, silliness, and extreme-bias at work

  11. If USC was undefeated where would they be ranked? That’s the real question. Hard to tell who good and who’s bad. Utah, UCLA, USC, Stanford good? Oregon, Michigan, ASU, Az bad? We will know in a month.

  12. You act as if you’re USC’s jilted lover, Scottie. You went to the school. I assume you graduated. Who from SC pissed in your Cheerios. There’s being unbiased, then there’s being actively antagonistic – without doing the legwork. That’s you. But hey, you must be doing something right (recruiting news), I keep coming back.
