USC Morning Buzz: Freshman Cornerback Isaiah Langley’s Rise

Isaiah :Langley thought he was going to redshirt but got thrust into the game at cornerback against Arizona State and delivered a strong performance.

“I had to grow up fast. I had to learn plays, learn my role, what I have to do on the field . . . I feel improvement every day of the week,” Langley said.

  1. We Trojans should thank the heavens for Justin Wilcox. He has developed our defense into one of the best USC defenses ever (certainly for a non cheating/eventually sanctioned USC team). Did you see the way our Trojans dominated ASU, Arkansas State, and Idaho? That was all coaching! Hopefully, Ethical Pat locks him up with an extension. FIGHT ON!

        • You shouldn’t refer to yourself in those words. I for one am a very positive person and never name call. You shouldn’t either. Cheer Up! Is it something Fred did? Are you two ok?

      • Good point. Sark is underrated and could use a little support. I too get tired of all the Sark hate, I’m glad we are on the same page. Ray Ray. Fight on!

      • I always hear Nora in every Starbucks I go too. She’s so talented. Much like Sark they have both been #1.

      • I laugh at him from afar , because he missed his calling as a comedian. I should get an anonymous profile, then go do the same to the UCLA’s blogger page, especially since I think Jack Wang should be covering women’s high school sports.

  2. I liked Langley coming out of high school he had good ball skills. He’s young and should help more down the road.

    • ex SC D star Lawrence Jackson summed the current D up well when he mentioned how young these guys are, but the type of guys filling spots is tremendous, and will only get better

      • He’s right. We can still improve and we’ll probably struggle, but watch out for next year. All the young DLine players that are getting experience and Lockett, Marshall, Langley, Tell all learning to go against some good passing teams is gonna pay off for next season. We’re in the now and we’re playing for this season, but we both know how good this team is going to be in 2016.

        • Cody is great, Id like to see him finish this season with the team on top – but that looks like where this is going – especially if we get dudes like Juarez next year – wow what an animal that kid is!

          • He’s a beast. He’s still committed but it looks like it’s gonna take a victory over the Bruins to keep him. He’s been leaning towards UCLA but I think the game will ultimately influence his decision at the Army game.

          • You don’t really think he could choose the bruins, do you? Everything about him says Trojans, even his recruiting video – I know that he said he’d like to play next to Myles Jack, but that didn’t seem like anything more than just being respectful – I am sure he doesn’t actually want to play “next” to him, which would be at substandard stadium about an hour drive from campus, in the middle of nowhere..

          • He’s said he wants to be used exactly like Sua Cravens, Rush the QB and play in space. I won’t deny that I want him and we could use him. But as good as he is we need DLinemen, top DLineman. But the fact is Juarez is still committed that’s still gotta mean for something. We’ve been getting all the big time local recruits lately, but this year might depend on us playing better. Juarez is having fun with the process. I’d hate to lose him.

          • Cody hasn’t showed up against UCLA, but the team hasn’t either. We can blame Sark and the staff, but the guys got to go and execute when it really matters.
