Here’s USC tailback Fred Crutcher gaining yards as the No. 12-ranked Trojans upset No. 1-ranked Washington, 16-7, on Nov. 10, 1984, to clinch a Rose Bowl berth. Crutcher scored the game’s only touchdown while kicker Steve Jordan made field goals from 51, 46 and 47 yards.
If Crutcher scored the game’s only touchdown, how did Washington get 7 points? 2 safeties and a field goal??? That’s some D right there
If Wolf told Peterson of his Top 25 he’d probably laugh!
GO TOLEDO !!!
Go Memphis! Says Wolf.
Whenever I read Scott’s rankings in the weekly poll, I imagine hearing a rim shot as if it’s the punchline to a joke
my favorite USC game of all time. My freshman year.
My senior year! Great game.
I was a grad student. I remember having a really good feeling going into that game that we would win. Good memory.
This game, and the win in the Rose Bowl got the incompetent Ted Tollner a contract extension
Tollner was another one of these offensive gurus; like Hackett, Kiffin, and Sark. For some reason theses offensive gurus, except Bill Walsh and Mike Holmgren, do not translate to a lot of wins, or, ironically, points, when they take over the reigns.
Only TD of the game – Washington must have had 2 safeties and a field goal.
That was a great win. It was a really good Washington team and the Rose Bowl was on the line. Then we cr@pped the bed against UCLA & ND but bounced back to beat a good Ohio State team in the Rose Bowl.
