The USC Plot Thickens

A USC administrator tells me Steve Sarkisian arrived on campus Sunday morning sober. But by the time USC held its special teams meeting, players believed he was not sober. That means something happened on campus between those two events.

  1. Something is going on. Haden should at least be addressing the media today you would think. Even if he is not resigning

    • I actually thought that when Wolf tweeted that boosters knew he was drunk before anyone. I thought perhaps those boosters set it all up to set things in motion

      • oh well – not much to do now except move on – I hope the best for Sark

Haden seemed suspicious too when addressing the media – “I was over at a basketball thing and it all happened so quickly” seemed very odd to me

      • The boosters wanted Clay Helton all along. They’ve been calling for him since Pete left.

  2. It wouldn’t have been hard for him to hide a bottle in his desk or car. I don’t see a conspiracy here. Clearly Haden has to go. He should have been monitoring Sark after the Salute to Troy debacle.

  3. Based on the article in the LA Times today, this doesn’t surprise me, and it’s another example of why Pat Haden must go. USC is in dire need of a experienced athletic administrator, and until they hire one, the 20 year circus will continue. The University has so much potential to be great athletically, but they refuse to take advantage of their reputation.

    • Pat Haden doesn’t need to go. He needs to make the right choice and hire Dave Wannstedt, He works the Pac 12 Network, has NFL and college experience and is available. I say lets do it!

      • Not hiring anyone till the season is over. Take care of business at hand, half the season is left to play.
This is a great time to start putting feelers out and see who may be interested, but the hire won’t come till the Sark era is closed and USC is free of him.

      • I wouldn’t frown about anything you just said , because Wannstedt is a good coach, but I think USC will go in another direction, especially if Haden stays on as AD .

  4. He may have watched or read a lot about his possible firing in the news and got dpressed. When you look at some of the replays of his actions during ASU game like the celebration with another player and one scene where he is in huddle with the players he could have been easily intoxicated.
Lets hope the next coach has a track history and some maturity in handling the job.

  5. People seem to think USC is walking on eggshells with respect to outright firing Sark in connection with ADA and other employment laws. Please. Simply DEMOTE him. He’s now an “Assistant Consultant” who is not allowed on campus…that’s his new (albeit expsneive for the universtity) role. He will then resign on his own. Then let’s hire Jon Gruden, or give Pete Carroll a blank check. Let Carroll become the new AD and head fb coach again. Just like we had John Robinson twice, pete may be interested again, according to my sources.

  6. This entire affair is just plain sad. A mans life is in turmoil, his kids are innocent victims and he is in for the battle of his life. And Haden , a very smart and accomplished man has seen his reputation take a very nasty hit. And for all of those who care about USC they are pained, embarrassed and mad. It is incomprehensible to fathom that such smart people can make such bad decisions and choices. Lots of blame to go around. But no winners.

  7. Cant see Pete coming back plus its time to move past that era obviously. Cant see Pete or Chip Kelly coming back to college. Neither like all the NCAA rules and regulations and both have big says in their personnel. Recruiting in college is a full time job. NFL draft seems a lot easier to me.

      • Wow! Another character from the Howard Stern Show. Can you say, UCLA frat boy? What’s the matter, is Sal out sick today? Who’s it going to be tomorrow, Stuttering John, Fred the Elephant Boy, Beetlejuice? You and your ilk are so lame it’s pathetic.

        • I’m glad you read every comment, follow every thread, and listen to the show. It’s nice to see a fan. Funny thing is, I’m not Sal. Love you son.

  8. Wannstedt? Failed his last two jobs miserably. How about Gary Patterson at TCU? Bob Stoops needs a change of scenery, but his time may have peaked as well. Definitely need a mature coach with proven track record.

  9. Unle Wolfman, is it true that Kessler played in the 2nd half with a concussion.. .

Say it ain’t so Lobo.. .

  10. I am sure drink is part of the problem but I would guess that some sort of pain killer or anti depressant drug is the main culprit. Get help and clean up. In this society this will be forgotten in 5 years. He can be an assistant somewhere.

  11. A buddy of mine swears he saw Sarks over near the Galen hanging out with a couple of street people…..(wino’s) and told me the stench was real bad….
