North Torrance linebacker Mique Juarez, USC’s top recruit, officially decommitted today. This is not really a surprise because Juarez has been looking at UCLA and some believed he would choose the Bruins eventually. But it is a sign of the current turmoil.

  2. Considering everything going on at USC, who really cares if this player decommited , because he wasn’t going to play anytime soon anyway, and probably would have red shirt.

    • Excellent point – SC is stacked at LB right now. If it were a d-lineman, I’d be concerned.

    • Freddy, the kid’s a superman ….but you don’t think he cracks the vaunted Southern Cal team for any playing time ?? He’s gone after 2 yrs, so might as well play him right away!!

  3. Irrelevant. Who cares? He was always going to ucla anyway, so why he was even supposedly committed to USC all this time makes you wonder. We’ll lose some more before we turn it back around.

  4. I am thinking that these 5 star prima donnas can go elsewhere. I am convinced you can build a very good football team with a lot of 3 and 4 star kids. The stats prove it out. Ask Wittingham at Utah.

    • I am afraid usc is never coming back. We are a national joke and we can’t even hold on to recruits. I feel like we are destined to be another middle of the road pac 12 team from here on out. I am afraid of who Pat will hire. I’m thinking it will be another Carroll clown.

      • Eric, Sark was # 6 on the list before he was hired. He wasn’t the #1 that they wanted. Sumlin , Strong, and Briles were hi on the list but they didn’t want to leave their schools.

    • Would love for Juarez to end up a Bruin, but I’ve given up trying to predict the capriciousness of 18-year-old kids. The recruiting wars are won in January and early February. The Trojans always reel in a good class–it’s a fluke when they don’t. The only difference now in SoCal is that Mora has it going on too. Let the best recruiters win.

  6. There’s 3 1/2 months until signing day. Juarez may never be a Trojan, but there’s plenty of time to worry about the recruiting. Right now recruiting will have to take a blow due to the circumstances. But NEVER underestimate what USC can do at the finish line. We just have to play football right now.

    • I said this earlier, but I’d be shocked if you ended up with a class out of the top 10. The beauty of a coaching search is this season has no impact on recruiting because the next guy will sell the future. This all, is also very frustrating for me to admit.

      • The right hire can turn heads quickly. We just have to win games. Greg Biggins said all the local Trojan commits not named Mique Juarez have told him they are staying put. Any team would hate to lose a player like Juarez, but our classes are never defined by one kid. I follow recruiting pretty close and right now I’m not worried. We just want to football games. It’s a long way till February. We’ll have a coach well in place by then.

          • So did my dad. They all say that. And Haden obviously knew about it , or didn’t do his homework. Nikias has Haden’s back so he’s not going anywhere now. But he better do his homework this time around and do a thorough coaching search.

          • Sas, Sark wasn’t the #1-#5 on the hire list. He was actually #6. When coaches start to be let go there will be a lot to choose from. Spurrier just left So. Carolina. No worries. We should have kept Coach O!

          • Our next coach will be an upgrade. No disrespect to Sark or Orgeron. But I think we get our man this time.

  10. USC needs to stop playing masturbation football. They have to stop beating themselves. Win or lose Saturday’s game can’t come fast enough. It’s hard enough to keep it up on campus without all the distractions. Time to get back to playing ball.
