  1. Who was the coach back then? Some promoted assistant coach no doubt.
Oh well I guess big names were not always available.

    • He was an assistant for several years, but learned his craft from very good head coaches, not what we have had here the last 5 years.

      • Yes I remember him well. In our current situation I am reminded a good pupil not only learns what works but in this case what doesn’t work.
Clay Helton has made more adjustments in the past few games than his predecessors did in the past few years. I don’t think of him as learning on the job. I think of him as fine tuning for next year.

  2. Ok Troyjans, it’s time to tune up your excuses for tomorrow. I hate to use some of these because they are so worn out after three years of double-digit beat downs.
So make your picks, fellas and start rehearsing:

    10) We should have blitzed Rosen more
    9) Our play calling on third down was atrocious
    8) We had too many penalties on offense
    7) We had too many penalties on defense
    6) Our coaches knew they were history so they were busy finding jobs.
    5) We had too many injuries on our offensive line.
    4) Our ex-coach was drunk
    3) Our A.D. is retiring
    2) We lost because the NCAA sanctions are still affecting us.
and the number one reason SoCal lost to UCLA (again) (badly) is:
    1) UCLA is a better team and football program.

See you boys tomorrow, can’t wait.
