  1. I was at this game, and I remember Rodney Peete throwing an interception right before halftime, and it totally looked like a pick six. Well Rodney ran after him, and tackled him right before he reached the end zone. There was no time left in the half, so ucla was unable to score. I remember USC won this game by a very little amount, and if Peete wouldn’t have ran after that guy I am sure they would have lost.

      • My three favorite Trojan QBs …Sogge, Peete, Palmer

My favorite Trojans of all time…Arnett, Seau, Peete, Malaluga, Goux, Keyshawn.

        • Can’t argue with any of them Larry. I still am biased to my days as an undergrad at SC . Its all good, and this beat down of UCLA was that much sweeter!!!! FIGHT ON!!!!

    • Remember that play like yesterday ( use your Keith Jackson voice ) ‘ the ball is tipped into the air and it’s INTERCEPTED … and it may go back for 6 !!! ‘
Rodney chased him down ( by the face mask too btw ) and saved the game.
Two great athletes making great plays !

  2. I remember this game. It was the game I took the pastor who married my wife and I. It was a great game but really hard for me to keep my comments civil sitting next to a pastor.

  3. great game , great players just in that picture alone
Imagine the great Rodney Peete in today’s game ! Eric Turner was a surreal athlete

  4. ucla did everything they could to lose, and did just that. Turner couldn’t out run Rodney for a TD before the half, Gaston Green fumbled just as he was hitting a hole wider than Michelle Obama’s fanny, USC pulled a huge upset that day as well as the following year at the Rose Bowl

    • The following year wasn’t really an upset. Maybe because of the measles Peete had, but SC was higher ranked. That was a fun game to be at for sure. One of many.

      • I remember ucla fans showing up to that game with those measles masks on. I was at that game, too. whatt a great atmosphere!

    • 1987 was a usc upset! in 1988 usc was the better team. I was fortunate enough to be at both of those games. I was real young back then, and it was kind of my introduction to the hatred between the 2 schools. I just remember the tailgating outside the stadium, both teams fans got very obnoxious with each other.

    • Peete was such a better leader than Aikman. Peete’s teammates loved him, while Aikman’s teammates didn’t. Aikman always yelled at his teammates, when they made a mistake and his act wore thin in that locker room.
