USC vs. UCLA

USC.UCLA.CROWD.2015The announced attendance of 83,602 was the smallest crowd for a USC-UCLA game at the Coliseum since 1980 (83,491), which was the final Crosstown Rivalry at the Coliseum where the Bruins were the home team (a 20-17 UCLA victory).

It was the smallest USC-UCLA crowd at the Coliseum when USC was the home team since 1975 (80,927), a 25-22 UCLA win. Since 2007, the sixth consecutive USC/UCLA sellout, there has been only one sellout in the series, the Trojans’ 50-0 victory the Bruins at the Coliseum four years ago.

  1. Even though it was for the Pac12 South it has been disappointing season for both teams based on pre season expectations. As it has been with the conference overall. ASU, Arizona, Oregon, UCLA, and USC have all had seasons worse than expected.

  2. I bet I could improve on the negativity of this post —“As a collectivity, the 83,602 attendees of yesterday’s USC/UCLA game possessed the lowest IQ in the history of the match up, were, far and away, the most poorly attired and seemed to have lost faith, not only in their respective teams, but in God…”

    • Actually, it is closer to 2300 miles, New York to L.A., but who is counting?–

I used to follow the Pete Carroll teams around the country. Now that was a traveling circus, with home team fans salivating with excitement in hopes of beating the Trojans. That kind of spirit will never be replicated again.

    • You’re a true fan, NYCB. Kudos to you for your loyalty. At least the weather was nice.

      • One of the reasons attendance is down is because little gutty attendance is so small now. They’re a weird crew. They have never traveled well to any place in the U.S. and now they won’t go across town either.

bruins just don’t show and it all started big time when Carroll started abusing the little gutties. Now they say they just won’t come to South Central because that part of town disgusts them. Funny, USC is a big part of the greatest revitalization in downtown L.A. in the history of the city.

Before long there won’t be any little gutties at the Coliseum. Breaks my heart.

  3. More of an indictment of the LA fan base, guess the Pac 12 south division title wasn’t big enough to get them to the game. The early start didn’t help.

    • Plus, it’s a holiday weekend. I would assume that many people, especially students, stayed home with their families.

  4. Well frankly ‘LA’ isn’t: Norman-OK, Tuscaloosa-AL, Columbus-OH or Chapel Hill-NC. Traffic is the main reason – people are tired of driving all week and would rather see the game from the comfort of their home or restaurant/bar…..it’s LA and it is a very very busy place 24/7.

    • Couldn’t agree more, you are spot on with this. Although I attended the game, I still prefer the man cave experience of watching several games at once in the comfort of my home.
