    • I am as big a critic of SW as anyone, but I just don’t see it is warranted here. A good political cartoon is always fun–and has bit of truth attached. I don’t agree with the message, but it sure is clever.

      • I’m NOT a big critic of Scottie —but sometimes he’s actually looking to be offensive [and I think he’d gleefully agree].

      • It wouldn’t be funny if there were no truth to it, right? Which part of the message don’t you agree with?

  1. Let me count the ways.–

Coach Kiffin got clobbered by SUCLA

Coach O had a big victory against Sanford and theN got clobbered by SUCLA

    Sark got clobbered by SUCLA

    Coach Helton clobbered SUCLA

Who should be the new SC coach?

    • Kiffin was the coach when USC beat UCLA 50-0, and Kiffkins blew out UCLA the year after that as well. Not too bad for a coach that completely stinks.

    • But since when is SC’s definition of success based on beating UCLA–especially a so-so UCLA team led by an 18 year old? As an SC coach (HC or otherwise), Helton is 3-3 vs UCLA and 2-4 against ND. That’s what surprised me about this hire: It felt like a reward for beating UCLA. Haden emphatically denied that in his press release, but the timing, nonetheless, is odd. Is Clay Helton the guy to restore Trojan football to prominence and lead SC to a national championship? I thought that was the standard against which potential SC football coaches were measured.

      • Stop with so much reality. The homers don’t like that. More deference, less reality.

      • Well, SC has to get past SUCLA (and ND) to reach a title game. And after 3 years, 3 long years I might add, of getting trounced by a rival it felt real good to finally give them some of the medicine they had been dispensing to Trojans lately.

  2. This is true and funny. If only he had made his decision after Oregon or ND… Is this the same guy who was OC when we scored 14 and 12 pts to Washington and Arizona St.? What was the the rush??? Seriously, Haden is a joke.

  3. Obviously there was zero effort in this hire. I thought my co-worker was joking when he said Clay Helton got hired this morning.

      • It’s that same insular self-assurance that he always displays.

He doesn’t like difficult people, and most high achievers are difficult. Not all, but most.

        • CLK and Sark are difficult He doesn’t like adults and people who are qualified. He also looks like he is usually trying to hire a son. Sark, Kiff, Enfield… He’s got a heck of a complex.

  4. Out of line. I have no problem with Mr. Haden begin criticized for his job performance. However I have a huge problem with making light or making fun of somebody who is physically ill. Not cool or funny what so ever.

      • I get our from I’m an oncology RN little Timothy. The pic is classless, kind of like your post.

        • Wtf are you on about??? Oh Jesus, the short bus now has wifi. You dolt, you do know that the picture is of his “Trojan blinders”. The man doesn’t have cancer. As far as his heart disease, he’s had a pacemaker for years! Wth does that have to do with the cartoon???

          • Like I said little Timothy. The pic and you are classless. Not surprisingly shocked that you see yourself as a cartoon expert though.

  5. I’m not sure who many of you thought were coming to SC? John Harbaugh, who knows how he would do in a college program? Chip Kelly, he’s unlikeable at best and never did win the big one (NC)we seem to judge everything against? I agree Helton is not a big name or glitzy, but if you are an educated SC fan you cannot deny the absolute and unbelievable culture shift the past month or so. Fewer penalties, dominating the LOS on both sides of the ball and most importantly dominating again in the second half. All of this with a still reduced roster and a number of injuries, especially on the off line. Even against a oregon we were down 10 with the ball til Kessler tried to turn a bad snap into a half roll out pass and fumbled. That stuff isn’t on the coach. I have to question your football IQ if you cannot recognize the upward trajectory that is clearly not based solely on emotion like it was 2 years ago.

    • Please don’t compare Kelly and Helton, or Harbaugh and Helton.

      Helton may succeed, who knows?

Kelly DID succeed, and no coaches ever said “Oregon has the most talent by far.” You don’t like him because he doesn’t suffer fools gladly. Big talent generally doesn’t suffer fools gladly. Deal with it.

Harbaugh did succeed, although you’re right that he might not have liked the recruiting, etc. But something tells me he knows more X’s and O’s than Helton. And maybe even more about talent.

Helton: “Cody is playing a very high level”. Was that at Colo., Cal, or Oregon? I do think he played better vs. UCLA, but his play has never reached “very high level”, except against truly weak teams.
