  1. Great… we’ll get to hear from all of the drunk trolls right before last call……

    • Is Sark in the house? 🙂

Wait until Mora hires Sark as QB Coach or OC. That will really make things interesting!

        • I would not be surprised to see Sark on Mora’s staff as a QB coach at some point. Mora is loyal and Sark is a friend. Guerrero needs Mora more than Mora needs Guerrero at this point.

      • That would actually be a great hire once Sark gets his life in order. And yeah, that would be really interesting.

  2. Coach Helton has already began a culture change at USC by making a commitment to running the football between the tackles during the last seven games. The one thing about both Kiffin and Sark was that they always wanted to be cute on offense and show everyone how smart they were. IMHO, the next steps in this culture change that need to occur are these:
1.) Get a tough as nails offensive & defensive line coach. Championships are won in the trenches.
2.) Bring in five offensive and five defensive lineman with every recruiting class. No more of bringing in four and five receivers.
3.) Go back to 21 personnel; two backs and one tight end and pound the ball between the tackles.
4.) Go back to a 4-3 defensive alignment with dominant defensive lineman.
5.) Make practices very physical. If you practice physical you will play physical.
6.) Recruit top notch punters and place kickers. Special teams is a must not a luxury.
7.) Wear the uniform correctly. No more alternate uniforms. No more Christmas bulb helmets and black socks at home. White socks with the black shoes home and away. We are not Oregon! We are SC!

  3. What was the rush, Pat Haden, were you just waiting around for Helton to win a meaningful game to then throw the job at him? Was the window dressing about coaching candidates your dept. was “supposedly” reaching out to not working to hide your decision to again take the easy way out?????? Were you unwilling to wait until the end of the season and try earnestly to find the “rock-star” coach USC football deserves? That’s the difference between you & MG isn’t it… doing the honest work and not throw the football program under the bus. Well your reputation on this deal will only go so far when Helton makes his decisions on who stays and who leaves as assistant coaches. And giving an unproven head coach a 5-year contract is just insanity.

        • I want to feel good about the team I’ll be rooting for, so lm going to wait and see what type of coaching staff Clay Helton puts together before Im all in .

          • Amen Fred… that’s the whole deal right there. There are some assistant coaches on this staff right now that are not championship level teachers/coordinators. If Helton is the right guy, he should know who to weed out of the program….. right?

        • You have a severe need for a dictionary as well. It’s “you’re”…not “your”.

          • My bad. End of the world. Everyone take cover. Sylvester discovered a typo in a post of mine. YOU’RE an empty holster pardner. (emphasis added)

    • Don’t you remember Pete Carroll was the only guy MG could get and a lot of people were unhappy with that pick. I agree that it seems rushed. My guess is the response from their inquiries combined with an offer Helton may have got forced a decision. Let’s hope it works.

      • Golden Trojan, I hope it works too. But I have doubts, as you should, if Helton keeps all his present assistant coaches including a certain DC.

      • Insight is knowing the new head coach of a top 5-college football program has been an assistant for 21 years in college while never being a head coach. “Whats your deal”?

  4. I just read on a website that Clay Helton , and Ed Orgeron are very close, and may attempt to bring him back. Now let’s go for Buffalo bills offensive coordinator, Greg Roman, and former assistant, Kennedy Polamalu .

  5. I didn’t see Cody Kessler progressing much or at all the three years he was the starting QB at USC. Kessler still can’t read defenses, can’t ever remember him calling an audible, most of his passes are thrown horizontal instead of vertical, he still hasn’t figured out that it’s better to throw the ball away than to take a sack…zero progression under the direct tutelage of Clay Helton. And now we’re supposed to believe that Clay Helton is capable of leading a Trojan football team to a national championship? Pat Haden isn’t fooling anyone, he’s in over his head at USC…same as the two football coaches that he hired.
