USC Coaches Fired

Two sources tell me Clay Helton’s informed coaches they will not be back next season including Justin Wilcox. Helton is expected to retain offensive assistants Tee Martin and Marques Tuiasosopo. USC has not announced anything today.

UPDATED: Defensive line coach Chris Wilson and secondary coach Keith Heyward are also not expected to be back next season. Offensive line coach Bob Connelly will also not return.

  1. Guess most of the posters are happy about this news, if Wolfie’s “sources” are truly in-the-know.

Now, the question is if fired assistants will try very hard in December to coach up the Trojans because they’d better be ready for the Badgers.

  2. YES !!!
    “Christmas” came early !
    So…
Go-Get [CLANCY PENDERGAST] AND BRING HIM BACK NOW !!!!
Clay & Clancy, it’s better than Frying !
C-[Offense] & C-[Defense] will turn everything around, and QUICK !!
    Can’t wait for 2016…

  3. uhh just wondering I assume this is standard practice to allow said coaches a chance to et a job elsewhere? Asking because the bowl game is still 3+ weeks away then again sooner Wilcox is gone the better for everyone even him if only to get him to realize what he just lost and why

  4. This shouldn’t be a surprise to anybody. I thought Helton may wait till after the bowl game, but I guess this allows him to start looking for replacements.

    • So much for your Machiavellian theory of keeping all the coaching staff until LOI day.

    • Ladies and Gentleman Helen has decided to grace SW’s blog with her characteristic optimistic opinions and uncanny prognostications.

So, Helen has pointed out the obvious: because Helton has fired most of the toejam coaches, Helton will proceed to hire new coaches. Brillant.

Helen if drafted, will you serve?

  5. Tee Martin had to be Helton’s first priority before someone else came and swooped him up. Tui is an up and coming football mind. I said weeks ago that those two would be the only head coaches kept by the next head coach. Martin was named the best recruitier in college football in August while continuing to coach up USC’s wide receivers and Tuiasosopo STOLE away Bryce Dixon from UCLA and STOLE away Tyler Petite from Duke, now we just need to involve TE’s more. Helton wasn’t my choice for our coach, but he’s addressing the weaknesses of the team and that’s a positive. WE NEED EVERYTHING.. OL/DL coaches for sure, but we need a really good DB’s coach. Imagine how good our Adoree, Iman, Tell, etc, would benefit from a good coaching in the secondary since they’ve been playing more athleticism while not much technique……..and I’m sorry, but what is with Chris Hawkins? He’s not a USC SAFETY!

  6. Clay, just two small requests….hire a special teams coach and please use one scholarship on a kicker!

    • Used a scholarship on kickers. Alvarado and Heidari were both scholie kickers. How did that work out?

  7. Great moves!! Maybe they should “fire” some of those players instead…especially after last night. “Fight On”? Please. Stanford owns this pathetic team. Keep clinging to your victories of 60 years ago, troy boys.

    • I can take your silly childish comments you’ve put out, but can you please take down that picture of your lover

          • Everybody does. The joker’s also known as Manny. LOL!!! BTW, Sam, our fantasy hire of Gruden or Harbaugh didn’t happen, obviously. And yes, I’m still not convinced on Helton’s long term performance as head coach. But since he isn’t going anywhere for at least the next 2-3 years, all I can do is hope for the best and root for him. Do you feel the same way about the situation?

          • I here Haden got the ok from Nikias about Helton and wrapped it up. That is the type of crap that needs to pull Haden out of Heritage Hall. I’m gonna pull for Helton, but I think Haden’s off his rocker. There’s something that had to transpire behind the scenes. All the USC “insiders” had word it was gonna be the this NFL guy and the deal was done. I think Haden ruined the deal somehow. That’s what my gut tells me.

          • Sam, all I can say is that I hope we don’t go through another several years of mediocrity with Helton. On the bright side, he’s at least sober, and he seems very strongly motivated to get the job done, so let’s hope for the best for now.

          • I can’t lie. I didn’t want Helton. But I do like him and I’ll be pulling for him and the team as always

    • How many handles are you using Buckethole? the little gutties get steamrolled by the Trojans and now you jump on the Stanford bandwagon for a couple of days. You continue to demonstrate what a useless, empty, callow existence you have as a human being. Lord, it must suck to be you. ROTFLMAO!!

  8. If I were clay Helton i would not bring Ed Orgeron back. There was just too much drama, when he left USC 2 years ago. And I totally think Orgeron wants helton’s job. If I were Helton I would not trust Orgeron, to have his best interests in mind. Sean Payton didn’t trust Ed Orgeron. Ed Orgeron is a snake oil salesman, in my opinion!

  9. Didn’t Clancy already lose to UCLA in CMora 1st year??

  10. I like what I’m reading here so far. It makes me feel Helton realizes he needs a better coaching staff to win championships. Who he brings in as new coaching staff & particularly a DC, will tell a lot about who he really is as a football coach.

  11. He might as well be playing in Australia because I don’t see him coming back any time soon. I haven’t heard anything on him in months.
