Clay Helton On Scott Felix And Chad Wheeler

I asked Clay Helton about Scott Felix and Chad Wheeler last night. Helton said he not know the status of linebacker Felix, who failed a drug test and could be suspended for a year under NCAA rules. “He’s going through a personal issue,” Helton said. “His status is . . . we don’t have answers.” Helton said Felix is currently a member of the football roster. Wheeler has rejoined the football team and is attending workouts.

  1. Maybe Felix and Wheeler can ask Dixon for a ride to the nearest rehab center… .seems to a common theme at #ClownU I heard they’re building an away house next to the “big house” how convenient… .

  2. It’s kind of tragic that USC had a player named Felix, but the nickname “Giant Felix” just never happened.

  3. Sounds like Wheeler has himself straightened out after his brawl with the men in Blue, and Felix sounds like he needs a reminder of how fortunate he is to be in a Div 1 school, and how many young men would love to be in his shoes, Good luck to both these Trojans… OK men move along theirs nothing to see here…..!!!

  4. I’ve been hard on Felix and Wheeler’s play on the field, but I hope they can get back on the right path and learn from their mistakes. That being said I think Zach Banner will be the new starting Left Tackle and Chuma Edoga will start at Right Tackle for the Trojans. Wheeler played his worst football this past season since he’s been at SC and I think Banner (still has to cut back on penalties) and Edoga have made bigger strides in improvement and will continue it into spring ball ultimately taking over as the starting bookends for our OLine.
Felix’s future looks cloudy and there are guys ready for that OLB spot. I think Porter Gustin will be the permanent starter, he had 5.5 sacks all while coming off the bench. And now you Oluwole Betiku ready to compete for big minutes. Wheeler and Felix’ mindset isn’t on the same page/level as the other players on the roster at the moment and other those other players are going to take advantage and compete.

  5. If Wheeler,as well as the other linemen get a break and have a position coach that isn’t a has-been stiff, maybe it would provide incentive they are going to develop and play top ball. You think?
