    • Maybe he’s using it as recruiting leverage. Maybe it will put him in a “spotlight” more now. I’m not sure, just speculating.

      • He’s said it’s been his dream to play at USC since he was 7 years old. He’s not just a kid who jumped on an offer without some kind of real thought behind it. He’s the #2 QB in the nation and #16 player overall. I seen him play twice on TV and he can throw the ball deep, in tight windows or on the run. He’s going to be good later on down the road.

          • Marv again check out the Rivals/USC article, this is totally different and this kid is way better than Stills. Best QB in the nation for his class.

          • I watched a lot of OC games and it seemed like he was bailed out by his one great WR Michael Pittman again and again. We shall see how he does in 2016.

  1. This kid is awesome! Obviously having a normal size nose helps…

  2. IMO, since College Football’s greatest QB coach Norm Chow left USC, John David Booty, Rick Sanchez, Matt Barkley, and Cody Kessler received what amounts to SQUAT Quarterback coaching during their Trojan careers. Tyson Helton, might you be the one to resurrect The Program ??

      • Many would say who in the hell is Norm Chow? Since he was pushed out at SC, he hasn’t done diddly squat, been fired numerous times, made a few more enemies and almost sunk Hawaii for good. His former nemesis and the guy who got under his skin big-time and shoved him harder than anyone, Lane Kiffin, will probably be head coaching again at a good school this time next year – so he won’t have much time to wear his new NC bauble.

          • Sark betrayed Chow big-time, no doubt about it. Chow brought him in. Gave him the coaching break of his life.

But the Kiffer’s aloof yet aggressive personality clashed with Chow. Chow expected respect, especially from such a younger guy who hadn’t earned his stripes. The Kiffer couldn’t have cared less about that. So he would provoke Chow. I think he enjoyed making Chow feel uneasy and Chow found himself in a tough spot because the Kiffer was Carroll’s boy because of Monte.

Chow was always pushing for more money, every year, and Carroll grew weary of this, especially since Carroll didn’t feel Chow deserved as much credit as he was getting. Carroll took credit, at least in his own mind, for altering Chow’s offense to fit what he wanted – hence the Trojan offense. It devolved into a power struggle – but Carroll, the huge winner now, had all the power. Chow never seemed to quite understand this, and he paid for it.

So Carroll finally got fed up and eunuched him, giving both Kiffin and Sark his job. Basically Chow got triple-teamed, with Kiffin the ruthless one, Sark the surprise and Pom Pom the Puppet Master.

          • I can definitely see Chow and Kiffin bumping heads. And I remember that Chow admitted after the 2001 season that he and Carroll were “not always seeing eye to eye”, and that it was a battle of philosophies. And said “we agreed to make things work”. Too many rockstar’s and not enough mic’s.

          • Jackie Girl won’t admit in his drunken rants that once Sark and Kiffin replaced Chow as OCs, SC never won another national championship.

          • Ya, and in the meantime, the Kiffer HCed the Raiders, the Vols and the Trojans while Sark HCed the Huskies and the Trojans before he bombed face down in booze after the Kiffer landed the prestigious ‘Bama OC job, Pom Pom won a SB and barely lost another while Chow was hanging himself in Hi. The wheel keeps on a turnin’.

          • Do your own homework. You’re the guy who’s always asking me as well as others who our sources are. Duh. Like I’m gonna tell you. Get a life and find your own.

I’m not here to tell you why or how I know what I know. How and why is it you can’t figure that out? You just slow?

          • Yea, I guess I’m just slow. I thought during Chow’s final season (2004) with USC that Sarkisian was an assistant with the Raiders.

          • Obviously you’re not good at piecing things together. Why don’t you leech off Sam Bam for info? Maybe he wants to school you up.

          • Carroll Vs. Chow

Posted on January 21, 2008 by Scott Wolf

Here’s a little history lesson on Norm Chow’s departure from USC and his falling out with Pete Carroll.

Relations between Pete Carroll and Norm Chow deteriorated over time. Carroll resented how Chow always got credited with the success of the offense and quarterbacks winning the Heisman Trophy. He worried recruits would think the offense would fall apart if Chow ever left.

On top of this, Lane Kiffin and Chow barely spoke and had at best a strained and sometimes hostile relationship. Remember the argument during the 2004 Orange Bowl practices in Florida?

Chow resented the way Carroll increasingly meddled with the offense. Many times, Carroll said, “This isn’t the BYU offense” or said he intervened midway through the 2001 season to “fix” the offense.

Things reached a head in January of 2005. Carroll, Kiffin and Steve Sarkisian met in Mobile, Ala., at the Senior Bowl and talked about a plan to bring Sarkisian back from the Raiders, where he was an assistant and kick Chow into the job of assistant head coach.

They also discussed removing playcalling duties from Chow.

Chow told friends recently he was “hurt” and “upset” and thought he was being forced out.

“I think they wouldn’t mind if (Chow) left,” said an associate of Carroll and Chow. “I think it’s about ego and maybe they are tired of Norm. They don’t need him anymore.”

Now, to be fair, Chow could also be aloof and paranoid at times and his quiet demeanor is not the type of personality Carroll seems to prefer on his coaching staff.

With all of this going on, Chow was offered the Titans job. After he took the job, some other things happened between involving Chow and Kiffin, but I’ll go into them another time. Meanwhile Chow no longer speaks to Sarkisian, feeling he was betrayed by his former protege.

  3. USC QB Mark Travis John Sanchez, born 11/11/86. It’s late in Texas, PRDan1986. You too, John………

  4. Moderator must be Scott. Any comment about him is deleted. What a baby.

    • Poor gee nerd, life just isn’t fair. Maybe you will win tonight and end your 0-270 streak, you “bafoon”.

  5. John B, please pay closer attention. i’m referring to QUARTERBACK COACHING, NOT HEAD COACHING ii He was given Vince Young when coaching the Titans. Had the wrong QB at UCLA. At least he tried to lead Hawaii to the promised land. John B, my comments should clear the path for you……..

  6. I heard Matt doesn’t even have a hot tub or know how to throw from his back.

  7. Is there financial gains for running a blog such as this. If there is then that’s the only reason you would post worthless stuff like sophomore quarterback committing to a specific coillege. What are the odds he picks the college he committed to as a sophomore or the college he committed to as a sophomore wants him. Meaningless junk. Nothing else to talk about.

  8. That kid really looks good on film. I saw one play where he threw the ball about 70 yards downfield off of his back foot and it went for a touchdown. He was only a 10th grader in 2015.
