An Alabama Follow-Up

One problem with judging Alabama by who it lost after last season is the Crimson Tide have had the No. 1-ranked recruiting class for six straight years according to 247Sports.com.

  1. You’re going against your own position here. Coaching matters. You can’t just roll recruiting classes in and expect to win. See Georgia.

    • I wish that Live chat came back. It was real interesting to see the views of the many Trojan fans.

  2. It is SUPER UPSETTING that these terrible commentators are STEALING identities without peoples permission!!!
That is why me, Charlie Bucket, and me Owns have created a JOINT identity and we are HERE and we are …. well you know how the saying goes!!!!
    #CanIGetan8Slap???

  3. You’re SO RIGHT, woIfman!!

Hey woIfman, remember when Choka-Choka Pete had 7 #1 classes in a row and STILL had ZERO crystal to show fer it??

    what was THAT all about???

    #Choka-Choka

  4. USC biggest problem here is that they made the mistake in getting rid of a national champion like Lane Kiffin. Now we are stuck with 5-4 Helton. We made a huge mistake and the Kiff is going to make us pay.

    • This fall, you’ll have the chance to see how talented student athletes perform for a head coach they actually respect. Former Trojan players told me how they actively laughed at Kiff. And Sark was robotic in his “What’s up, Bro??” These young guys love Helton – and I posit that will matter.

  5. What’s most interesting about those results? It’s very much business-as-usual. It’s not like SC is celebrating because of those giant victories. We were supposed to win those games, and we did. They weren’t reaching for those results. I find that pretty interesting, especially re: Hoops.

  6. Congratulations to the blogger and the third rate Daily News. What was once a small, secondary source of pertinent news regarding USC football and athletics has now morphed into a playground for first graders and trolls. As you can readily see, you have lost ALL control.

    • That’s not true. There are still REAL trojan fans like myself and Sam Bam that come here and speak our minds only to get defaced by imposter trolls. Fight On!

      • I graduated from SC in 1986..Im a 3rd generation Trojan… I enjoy the chatter, without the Ucla BS tho.

Ucla fans, alums and trolls really have nothing to talk about, their major programs have not been up to par in recent years. Football and basketball have failed to live up to the national exposure, recruits have bolted after seeing firsthand how dishonest the athletic department has become..Athlete character is questionable at best..Graduation rate is down per athletic team..and yet the trolls feel superior to USC to come on this site and challenge the culture and integrity of a program that has more history in all of the NCAA.. I don’t care about 130 NCs.. I care about tradition and history and that if it wasn’t for the strength in dollars that USC pulls in for the Pac12 ..All the other schools would suffer..Big Daddy pays for you Bruins to exist..live with that.. Ucla is still not in the same conversation as USC when it comes to tradition..

        Fight On!

        • Here are today’s lucky numbers…

          40-21
          89-75 and
          80-61…

If these are your numbers then you are a winner and a TROJAN!

Winning is like holy water to the Bruins, they can’t touch the stuff.

        • Never ever ever reply to any troll – any of them – when you reply you feed them what they need – a reply.

Their athletic program never has admitted the most corrupt because of the time span of the most adored in the nation. For that reason a lone they have nothing to say here – they are what they are – clowns and hate filled insects.

Don’t ever ever ever reply to any of them.

        • This is a very cute post. Your grammar really displays your amazing education you received at USC.

          • I had no idea the grammar police had a job on ISC.. Lets match incomes and lifestyles.. chances are you live in a box.. I think I made myself very clear..

    • I feel like we are at war with imposters and trolls. These children must have nothing better to do than bother us. Let’s rally together and salute Troy with a great big “Fight On”!

  7. Water Polo NC game: UCLA 10 – the Bozo’s 7. UCLA, 30 – 0, wins its 10th Water Polo NC.

NC’s count not meaningless crosstown rivalry games.

Tell us Sammy boy. when was the last time a Bozo U Men’s team won a NC in tournament competition?

    • And how did the girls field hockey team do? Or the powerful rowing team? Dude did you see how good the ucla chess team looks this year? ?

Please stop pretending that anybody besides the parents of these kids cares about any of these activities?

  8. I agree, and year in and year out, they sign players that control the line of scrimmage, and that’s always been their key to success, not the skilled positions.

    • It sucks that gee nerd has made a sock puppet mocking you. The rah rahs have hit a new low.

    • Fred, they’ve have a couple of decent RBs and WRs, or am I in full dementia?

I’m glad Haden set up the game (or if it’s multiple games, all the better). It’s a good thing, right?

USC’s guys should certainly want to show well, if they have NFL aspirations, right?

Is the USC OL talent just a fabrication? Might this new veteran hard-ass (so it’s said) coach shape them into a decent unit?

USC’s lack of depth on the front seven is not the dream scenario, but the game is early, and injuries shouldn’t have hollowed the DL out yet.

Pendergast must have some fairly good knowledge, right? If he sees that he doesn’t have a serviceable nose tackle, would he stubbornly cling to the scheme anyway?

I’m rooting for BKU, who’s earned that and more. We know that those who can’t, teach, but sometimes, those who can, can teach it, too. If BKU does have something to say, a kid would be a fool not to listen carefully. How many college kids get taught position technique by a recent NFL 1st-rounder/starter? IMO, those are privileged kids. P.S. Some of them are reputedly quite talented.

Hey, I’m not Sam Bam–I will not wager with you and take USC over the Tide.

But I’m more for looking forward to a marquee game, and letting things unfold. I won’t accept going in that it can’t be a well-fought effort. USC is not being asked to take on the Patriots. 🙂

      • Alabama’s successful running game is a product of their talented offensive line, and not the running backs . Eddie Lacy, and Trent Richardson never lived up to their college reputations once they got to the NFL . And that’s because they always ran behind a great OL in college. And btw, I’m not picking the Trojans over Alabama, because the Crimson tides strengths, play right into USC’S weakness , which is their defensive line.

        • You’re not picking USC to win because you think sensibly about things. Saban’s the best at what he does, or at least top 5.

If USC gets badly manhandled up front, we’ll all know what has to change. It won’t surprise me if the Trojans are NOT BADLY manhandled. They have brought in talented guys, too. Better coaching was needed.

Better to play a rebuilt AL team early in the year. Once it all gels, the disparity will widen.
But I don’t expect a USC victory. No big deal. The game’s a good thing.
