Balanced Attack Fuels USC Basketball’s Success

ELIJAH.STEWARTUSC’s five starters average between 12.2-and-12.6 points per game, a remarkable balance that can make the Trojans immune from relying on one player. Here’s my story on how the roster got put together and how the balance led USC to its 18-5 record.

“Towards the beginning of the season it was fun when we beat teams, but now we expect to win,” guard Elijah Stewart said.

  1. USC 2015-2016 Men’s Basketball Team posting an exceptional 18-5 record…..!!! WE OWN LA !!! IT’S TROJAN TOWN !!!

  2. The blogger ALMOST made it through an article without being negative but he had to mention O’Neill not getting any credit for 2 players. On the bright side, it was a mostly positive article on the basketball team , which have been few and far between on this blog this season

    • Bozo U is 18 – 24 in the NCAA tournament’s 69 year history. Instinkingpressive! Talk about few and far between cheap john.

        • When he’s not trolling this blog, he spends the rest of his night studying USC statistics…
          #UCLAWantsSoBad2BeSC

      • Bozo U just ELIMINATED the Bruins from the “big dance”…

        @ Pauley 89-75 by 14 pts.
        @ Galen 80-61 by 19 pts.

        Tusk!

      • Your 9 to the combine lost big time to SC and then again to a team with a losing record. #JustSnot

        • Chances of their successfully completing the combine are 50/50 at best. Chances of their staying for long in the NFL are much less. #JustSnot

    • The goat blower is the kiss of death writes one semi positive article and the team loses… Scott do is a favor and keep being an SC HATER! We are better off!

  3. Crazy that Jacobs almost left. In hindsight, last year might not have been so bad had Wesley stayed aboard.

    • This is the best USC team in years. The sad part is Andy will bail after next season for a real job and we will be hiring another Charlie Parker.

      • I think Ricky Byrdsong would be a decent replacement. A solid coach that understands how to develop players.

  4. This team has done well. Still a lot of tough games ahead Arizona, Oregon, California. Similar to Washington these teams have both overacheived expectations. Have to be happy with progress though

  5. This is off topic but—great column by John Wilner in Mercury News about the AD job/search.

    • We should hire George Raveling. USC is very behind the times in diversity. We clearly won’t consider a black Football coach for scary reasons. Let’s at least demonstrate that USC has a little decency.

      • I am of the school of thought that the position should go to and experienced AD. I am not inclined to hire anyone just because they were a good coach; black or white.

        • I was a great coach and can be a solid hire. My time at the Pac 12 network gives me the experience I need. Also coaching at the NFL level with two solid franchises gives me the overall experience a good AD needs.

        • Your position is the typical USC mentality. Why don’t you join the 21st century and realize that people of color really matter and won’t be held down forever. Typical old school USC guy you are with the “keep it white race card”!

          • Are you saying USC has had already had a black AD so now they don’t have to ever consider one again? It is scary to think this mindset still exists.

          • What I’m saying is your position is bull. So are you saying SC MUST have a black AD? Absurd. And how do YOU know they aren’t interviewing a black for the AD position? It’s really scary to think a mindset like yours is growing.

          • Sam, my thoughts regarding black or white only apply to a former coach. I wholeheartedly support interviewing and going after any candidate with experience. And seeking out candidates of color is a wise move. Going out of the normal channels & comfort zone is good for an organization.

  6. Sam Bam made a good comment. Andy will likely leave to a better program but there are plenty of decent coaches that would take this up and coming USC job. Ricky Byrdsong or Brian Ellerbe would be decent choices.

  7. Well, the good times just came to an end. SC lost in a dismal performance to lightly regarded ASU. And right after we had pulled even with Oregon in the loss column
    Oh well.
