USC’s National Search Replaced Pat Haden With Pat Haden

And what exactly did the Brill Neumann search firm do since USC simply hired Pat Haden’s teammate?

  1. I’d say Swann will be far more willing to listen to others before he makes a major move i.e. the hiring of Sarkisian.

This is a great move and someone who will seek the best to assist – hoping for the return of Daryl Gross.

  2. I hate to admit it, but when I first heard the news my first reaction was, “Okay now I think they’re just trying to make Scott Wolf’s head explode.”

  3. With this announcement one definite side drama is Petros Papadakis planning how to get back in at Galen

  4. Lets see here

He’s black, that gets one box checked off.
He played at USC, check another box off.
He has zero AD experience, check off another box.
He is conservative, surprising USC went there, though he supported RINO’s, McCain, Romney and Jeb Bush.
Sat on the boards of HJ Heinze, Wyndham International and Hershey Entertainment and Resorts.

Once again, USC hires a seach firm to do nothing.

    • ESPN reports on Lynn’s resume: “I was a professional football player for nine years, and I’ve been a broadcaster for ABC for 28 years — which is the most important career?” Swann said.

Swann has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations from USC and is listed as the president of Swann, Inc., described in its Web site as a “consulting and marketing firm specializing in marketing and communications.” The primary thrust of the company, based on the site, seems to be marketing Lynn Swann.”

      • As and what for? I suppose Mr Swann isn’t an African – American, he’s Lynn Swann.

  5. I’m utterly amazed that even 25% of the responders here seem to think maybe this hire isn’t so bad.

Just hire Tom Sellick then! Great Trojan too.

  6. I guess some people never learn from past mistakes. If you do not learn from history you are doomed to repeat it. How much was this “search firm” paid to come up with this hire? Unbelievable.

  7. Once again Southern Cal will be subjected to another Athletic Director who will be spending his tenure learning the ropes. USC is not the place for “on the job training” when it comes to such an important position! The school can afford to hire the best, why don’t they‽‽‽ I fear this is the equivalent of another haden, enfield, kiffin, sarkisian, helton type hire

    • The most baffling part of this is why would they hire someone a year older than the current AD who is retiring? Most people Lynn’s age are easing out of their occupation or are retired.

  8. Another question that needs to be asked is will Swann genuflect in front of those fair minded people known as the NCAA?

  9. I’m hoping 2-things will happen with Lynn as AD. #1- He’s willing to pay the money necessary to hire head coaches who will win championships (not have 8 & 5 type seasons). #2- He will not let the NCAA forget “they owe USC what was wrongly taken away in football sanctions”. I think that would make most USC supporters pretty happy?

  10. I am not sure what is going on at USC. I know we take care of our own, but first we hire a coach with no head coaching experience at one of the premiere jobs in the country , then we go hire a athletic director who is 64 yrs old with no experience in the position.

  11. Funny i was on another site talkiing about this hire and some usc fan commented about Chris Hill the Ad at Utah be too close to retirement to be considered for the job. Chris Hill an accomplished AD is 2 yrs older than Swann.
