Adoree Jackson’s (Non-Scrimmage) Day

While USC played at the Coliseum, Adoree Jackson was fourth in the long jump (25-8) today at the Mt. SAC Relays, which tied his season-best mark. The qualifying standard for the long jump for the U.S. Olympic Trials is 26-5.

  1. Memo to Adoree , you’re not good enough to be an Olympian , concentrate on football , get your degree and hope you score big money if you get drafted

  2. Jackson needs to concentrate on football. He should have been out there the whole spring practice. He’s trying to do too many things. He’s not going to make the Olympic team. He’s never yet been over 26 feet. He must hit 26’5″ just to qualify for the Olympic trials, which doesn’t mean he makes the team. He should give up track and play either offense or defense but not both. If not, it’s going to effect his chances of making it in the pros.

    • Don’t rain on his Olympic dream, Jimbo.
He’s probably a better long jumper than his is a D-back anyway.

    • Phooey! If track rings his bell I would bet that his dad would stand behind that decision. If he does both, so much the better. His druthers are more important that what some non-athletic fan desires. Yes, it appears that he is a somewhat long-shot at making the Olympic team, but as long as the kid understands the likely outcomes, let’s support our family member.
      Our coach seemingly has.

      • Usually when you try to do too many things, what happens is that you don’t end up doing anything well. You end up doing everything in a mediocre way. if you want to excel at something, you need to focus on that one thing. Don’t forget, when it comes to athletic ability, professional football isn’t like high school. In high school, someone like Adore is in a league of his own. In the pros, all the corners have great athletic ability and raw speed. The ones who spend the most time year around developing their skills are the ones that make it.

  3. those years of missing valuable spring track have taken their toll on AJ’s development. that’s exactly what the Cadre was afraid of.

  4. He wanted to use the spring to concentrate on track for the Olympics. Seems he is running a foot short of qualifying, I sure hope he isn’t a foot short on his pass coverage this fall.

  5. Adorre, You gave it your Best !

But 9 inches short of qualifying is too much to make up for !!

Let’s get back to Football, that’s your expertise !!!

Bama comin up in less than 4 months, let’s “Win” this game !

    Stay focused…

  6. Except that 26′ 5″ is not the qualifying standard for the trials, it’s the qualifying standard for the Olympic Games. The standard for the Trials is 24′ 2″.

    Typically lazy Wolf.

    • Wolf is right, and Ronzano is wrong. The Olympic Trials qualifying standard is 8.05 meters (26-4). Mr. Ronzano, you were looking at the field size (24), and the number of rounds (2). Who goofed, I’ve got to know! My lips are sealed, but his initials are MR!
