      • I’m not bitching about Wolf, I’m making an observation based upon a multitude of his posts. Read Rules for UCLA Trolls. Rule Number One-If you’re going to post on an rivals blog, know what you’re talking about.

        • You mean like the SC grads who kept telling us what a great coach Sark and Clay Helton (aka Mister 5-4) are? or how great of an AD Pat has been? Basically, you are bitching about it, not an observation. Oh wait, I just made an observation based on your observation.

          • No, I’m not a Dodgers fan. Hasn’t it been three decades since UCLA won a Rose Bowl and seventeen since they played in one?

          • Again, I’m not a UCLA fan, but thanks for assuming as most USC fans do. Like assuming Clay Helton is a good coach…or Pat Haden was a good AD.

          • Which did you enjoy more…seeing UCLA getting their face kicked in by USC 40-21 at the Coliseum? Seeing UCLA getting their face kicked in for the eighth straight time by Stanford? Or seeing UCLA getting their face kicked in by a 5-7 Nebraska team who had to get a waiver to play in a bowl game? If you going to come in here and run your mouth, have better ammunition that what you been shooting off, because this is grade school stuff.

    • Oddly enough, as i went down the name list, I don’t think this team had the most talent of all of McKay’s teams, although I won’t swear by that.

      Do you think I’m wrong?

On a positive note, Swann was one of McKay’s all-time faves, and with good reason.

      • My dad told me that the 72 team had a serious mean streak in them, especially on the defensive side of the ball. The offense was like novacaine, once it kicked in it was all over. The 73 Rose Bowl win against Ohio State 42-17 was a perfect example of that team. They had a couple of years where they underachieved, 1970-71, and they put it all together in 72.

        • Thanks for your reply. Besides McNeil, Richard Wood wasn’t in that photo either. Heck of a player.

Nonetheless, check out that 1967 roster. IMHO, an even more talented team!

      • Why didn’t Rod McNeil make the picture? Was he injured? He started the ruin game.

  1. “Those were the days my friend; we thought they’d never end.”
Actually, they didn’t. After these boys won the title in 1972, many of them remained to win a title in 1974. Another title was won by a different team in 1978, and then Pete won in 2003 and 2004 and nearly won in 2005.

As the SUCLAs reluctantly say, “Not bad, but I wish it could have been SUCLA.”

    • All bozo u FB titles are ballot box version NC’s and not recognized by the NCAA. The exception is the 2003 title that was vacated for bozo u cheating – which is hilarious since little petey didn’t need to play Bush to defeat Oklahoma.

Little Petey didn’t know squat – LOL.

      • Ladies and gentlemen, the dog is slobbering. Therefore, by your inane logic, UCLA has zero N.C.’s in football.

        • Yes as dumb as a SC fan claiming shared national titles only count 1/2. As Bear Bryant once said, “Once they vote you a national title, print up the shirts!”

      • Tell that to Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio St and Nebraska. They’d tar and feather you.

Naah, they’d just ignore you, which is the one thing you cannot stand.

  2. 1967 USC Trojan Defense 2 out of 118. Ave PPG 7.9. #5 Texas 17-13. At #5 Irish 24-7. #1 UCLA 21-20. Rose Bowl #4 Indiana 14-3, THE HAMMERS; Jimmy Gunn, Chip Oliver, Tim Rossovich, Adrian Young, Nate Shaw, Mike Battle. Ranked #1 in the final AP and Coaches Polls. NCAA 1967 UNDISPUTED NATIONAL CHAMPIONS, THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA !!! :

    • Thank you for that.

As I recall, they had a decent RB, too, a JC transfer. 🙂

  3. Sam Bam,
With al due respect, you gave the ruins too much credit. They only earned a
1/2 championship in 1954 and the other half went to Ohio St.

    • If you want to claim shared national titles only count 1/2 then USC only has 9 national championships since 4 were shared.

      • The difference is, USC played in the Rose Bowl on January 1st, while Thug U aka ugly backed in by not playing in the Rose Bowl game and won the 1/2 championship.
