NFL Draft First-Round List

1. USC (68)

2. Ohio State (61)

3. Miami (59)

4. Florida (48)

Ohio State made a big move up the list of all-time first-round draft choices with five last night. The above list is since 1967 when the NFL-AFL merger took place.

  1. With ucla’s big 1 last night, they have a dismal 25. At this rate, if USC football is disbanded immed, the little gutties will catch us in 43 years.

  2. Right now USC isn’t coaching up its talent. They’re getting 4-5 Stars recruits, but the they aren’t living up to the hype. I say coaching is the issue.

    • Last year we had the #6 draft choice and the #20 in round 1. Basically same crappy coaches. It didn’t seem to hurt then.

Recruiting rankings can be very suspect. I think some of our guys, especially in the trenches, have been vastly over-starred.

      • Definitely in the trenches. Leonard Williams looked like a pro during his freshman year.

        • Who wasn’t coached up?
2012 had just 16 guys -but even worse – add that to the anemic 12 recruits from 2013 – and were are just examining 28 guys.
About one recruiting class anywhere else.
          What are the results?
          2015-
Leonard Williams – 1st Round Draft pick..
          Nelson Agholor – 1st Round ” ” ” ”
          2016 –
Su’a Cravens will probably get drafted.
Max Tuerk will get drafted and may have gone in the first round if not for injury.
          Kevon Seymour might get drafted
Questionable are Woods, Simmons, and Pelon..
          2017-
Zach Banner,Chad Wheeler, Justin Davis, stand a good chance, along with a few others if they pan out.
          2018 –
Max Browne – if he lives up to the hype might go as well.
Not quite as bad as one might be when you think about the pain and suffering the program has fought through.

          • Tuerk should have been given the real opportunity that tackle. He was more than solid his sophomore season. Those at practice said he was meant to play OT.

Zach Banner and Chad Wheeler are probably the most overrated OT’S in college football. Yes they’ve been coached by 4 different OLine coaches, but there comes a time when talent should rise above. I agree they still have time to shine, but watch for Chuma Edoga to steal Wheeler’s spot.

If you go back to R. Woods, Marqise Lee, Nelson Aguilar they were fed plays for stats after their breakout years and that hurts them. They were forced the ball. That was bad coaching or even play calling.

Anthony Sarao, Lamar Dawson, and Michael Hutchings were all in my opinion not coached well also. BUT…You could also say they didn’t pan out.

I agree with you it’s a situation that can be seen from both POV’S, but we aren’t getting the max out of guys in my opinion.

      • Vastly over-starred is an understatement, and even Pete Carroll admitted to missing on several lineman his last few years at SC .

  3. Other then JuJu Smith, I don’t see a #1 draft pick on the current USC roster unless someone develops into one. Mel Kiper brought up Adoree Jackson last night, and said he will be a top pick next year, but I have no idea how he came to that conclusion .

    • For Jackson, it’s all about special teams and he ripped off huge, spectacular gains against both ND and ucla. Soundbite greatness.

      • Defensively, Adoree Jackson had the worst game of his career against Notre Dame last season. They made him look foolish to say the least. He better be ready to go in Summer workouts and Training Camp.

        • Will Fuller was just too much for him to handle. I’ve never really liked Jackson at DB. He doesn’t do much for me there.

          • I agree with ya. When a DB cannot tackle or look back for the ball on pass coverage, he needs schooling or another position.

      • If Zach Banner was in the draft this season he wouldn’t even be drafted. ..are you kidding me? He’s a decent college offensive tackle at this point, in my opinion.

        • He’s an excellent run blocking tackle just needs to get more work on pass blocking. Last year was his first injury free. His size and abilities you cant teach. He’ll be late second rounder next year but if catches fire he’ll be first rounder.
