Gotta Love The Cleveland Browns

I don’t know if Hue Jackson or Moneyball executive Paul DePodesta is making the Cleveland Browns draft choices but they are finding different ways to agitate me. The Browns took six wide receivers with 14 draft picks, including Jordan Payton of UCLA above. Six wide receivers!

Who do they think they are, USC? The Trojans have 13 wide receivers on scholarship. No wonder Pat Haden interviewed Jackson. I give Jackson/DePodesta credit for taking Arizona linebacker Scooby Wright in the seventh round.

    • Simply because it gave the blogger another chance to harangue endlessly about USC having too many receivers (in his uneducated opinion) on its roster. He really wants people to think he is a football expert. I know of few people who would consider this blogger even knowledgable in the sport.

  1. I don’t care if Hue Jackson drafted a one legged / one armed man, I would trust his talent evaluation & knowledge of football more than I trust SW. Hue Jackson is widely respected in the NFL and among coaches. His entire draft class may go down in flames, and he will still have more legitimacy than SW. Today’s postings by SW prove without a doubt he has no desire to be a objective broker of sports journalism

  2. Speed football means spreading the ball around. And if you have a stable of receivers you can beat back the defense. Giving speedy receivers a chance to recover while another is pushing the defense down field is smart football.
I don’t know if they did it to antagonize you though.

    • I think they are doing it just to antagonize Wolf. It makes the most sense.

  3. First, SC has 12 WR’s on scholarship, not 13, but I guess Keyshawn Young playing DB wasn’t part of your “Inside” information. They signed a huge class this year because 4 guys are out the door after this season. This is not hard to figure out.

Secondly, Cleveland was never going to have a roster with 14 drafted rookies on it. Regardless of what position they drafted, several guys were always going to get cut. However, Brian Hartline is the Browns #1 WR… yes, Brian Hartline, so there is room for wholesale turnover on their roster. Especially when you consider that after Hartline (2 TD’s in ’15), the rest of their WR’s combined for one more TD.

    Try harder!

  4. Wow, I just took a look and I have a new favorite part of this post. Not only does SC not have 13 scholarship WR’s, Cleveland only drafted 5 WR’s. The only correct statistic is Cleveland having 14 draft picks.

Learn how to count! You shouldn’t even have to take off the second shoe to get all the Brown’s picks in.
