Adoree Jackson And Olympic Trials

One thing to consider as Adoree Jackson tries to reach the magical 26-5 mark in the long jump to make the U.S. Olympic Trials: USC has had two different jump coaches the past two years. If you throw in his high school coaches, that means Jackson’s had three coaches in three years. Not an ideal scenario for making the Olympics.

  1. No biggie. That’s mild turnover compared to what Jackson has experienced on the football team.

  2. I thought that the top 24 long jumpers qualified for the Trials, & Adoree was currently 16th. He appears to be a long shot for the Olympic team , but appears to be in good position for the Trials. Can anyone add any clarity?

  3. From USA Track and Field, 2016 Qualifying standards
    Men
Automatic Field Size – Rounds Event
    8.05m (24–2) Long Jump

Looks like you make 8.05m you’re in the trials, otherwise hope you’re in the top 24.

  4. Actually, in the long jump, it’s an ideal scenario. You need different perspectives on the mechanics of the jump to tinker and squeeze out those extra inches on the jump. There’s no reason you would know that, Scottie, but your smug tone suggesting the contrary makes you appear a tad foolish.

  5. Perhaps he should load up on Broccoli and Beans before a jump. they are not banned substances and if timed correctly he can achieve a break wind aided distance that might qualify.

  6. If you add that to the number of football coaches he had, it’s a perfect illustration of why smart athletes should avoid SoCal.

    • Yeah just like your cowardly lion of a coach pleaded for Guerrero to veto satellite camps…jimmah …. what a leader

  7. According to NCAA stats, the top college long jumper this year is Braxton Drummond of Charleston Southern Collegiate, who jumped 26’7″ this year and ran a 10.5 w – 100 yard dash and is 6’0″, 165 lbs., and is 22 years old.

USC’s Adoree Jackson’s best jump so far is 25’11” and he has run a 10.35 w – 100 meter dash. Jackson is 5’11” and 185 lbs. and is 20 years old.

So Jackson is about 8 inches back of Drummond in the long jump right now but 2/10th’s of a second faster than Drummond.

Jackson is ranked 55th in 100 meter dash and 9th in the long jump (outdoors).
