Does USC Need A QB?

Does USC even need a quarterback for the Class of 2017? The Trojans currently have a junior, sophomore, redshirt freshman and true freshman at quarterback.

It’s not a vital need. That doesn’t mean losing a QB to Alabama is OK. But it still means USC can use that scholarship on a wide receiver. Or defensive lineman!

  1. Wow, Scott.
You have once again transcended the average and moved even higher into the stratosphere of sports journalism.
    Brilliant!
Some of these homer rubes won’t be able to follow you to that high level of thought but after all, this is primarily a SoCal audience so be patient with them.

  2. wolfman, remember when Southern Cal stacked up TEN “hs all american” tailbacks on ONE team???

and they STILL couldn’t run the ball!!! HAWR-HAWR!!!!

now it’s WR’s!! what’s next they gonna sign 7 Punters???

  3. There’s no rhyme or reason as to how this coaching staff recruits , they just sign them, just a Steve Sarkisian did. Which is why they have 14 receivers on scholarship, and not enough defensive lineman to conduct a game like scrimmage . And when coaches build teams from the outside in, then your probably looking at a team that struggles on the line of scrimmage.

  4. Am I the only one here that heard Helton’s response when asked why he recruited so many wide receivers this year? If our class is loaded with them again next year, then worry.

  5. Bingo SW, if Helton is going to change the culture of this football program currently spinning around 8 & 5 seasons, he needs to shy away from numerous WRs & even QBs and concentrate on controlling the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. We will see if Helton needs a copy of “Recruiting For Dummies” book next February.
