USC Morning Buzz: A Trojan Makes It On A Wheaties Box

WHEATIES.BARRY

There are USC fans whose idea of history is the Pete Carroll era. But look at the above Wheaties box, which features USC basketball coach Sam Barry along with valuable tips on shooting underhanded free throws. If you wonder who Barry is, click here.

Do you think Andy Enfield will ever make it on a Wheaties box? He did fail to give out the Sam Barry Award (MVP) at the past two USC basketball banquets.

Meanwhile, Oracle Corp. founder Larry Ellison, who will be the featured speaker at Friday’s USC graduation ceremony, has donated $200 million to USC for a new cancer research center.

  1. I know that quite a view readers live in Los Angeles & can get to the USC campus without much difficulty . If one of you could contact Coach Enfield to arrange an interview and ask him why he does not give
out the Sam Barry Award we would be appreciative. If time permits you might ask him important questions about the Basketball Program as well.

  2. First of all, who eats Wheaties any more? And second, Larry Ellison has dumped way more than 200 million on his boats, it’s play money to him. And third, you would think any decent reporter would ask Enfield why he hasn’t given out the award, maybe he’s afraid of getting yelled at like someone in El Paso.

    • In the meantime, I just glanced at “Inside UCLA” and that blog actually has sports news about the UCLA teams, players and such. And it seems objective, not filled with innuendos and really ridiculous hypothetical questions.

      • This blog used to cover USC sports but the Blogger seems to have transitioned to posts filled with innuendos and snarky comments. Fueled by the Trolls, 80 percent of the comments are personal attacks and not related to sports. I assume this approach is more profitable or the Blogger wouldn’t continue along these lines. The transition seemed to occur about the time when the Blogger was exiled from USC practices so maybe this is his revenge.

      • Tis’ true…however their poster traffic is tantamount to zip. No innuendos nor ridiculous hypothetical questions. Unfortunately it appears to be a wasteland of interaction. Their blogger is anything but snarky (sp?) and his threads are quite reasonable. Then the other shoe drops. It culls up the analogy to a tree making a sound when it falls in the forest.
It is quite understandable why traffic is so sparse…no one seems to care. BTW, there are no frustrated SC posters on their board talking trash. Wink, wink.
At least we have a venue for comic relief and a cathartic outlet. To satisfy our thirst for USC sports info, we can at least fall back on WeRSC, USC Football (dot) com, SC hoops (dot) com etc.
In any event, the Daily News rakes in some filthy lucre, which one would assume is absent in the other camp.

  3. Cancer research is very important. But at USC, money is in the driver’s seat and all the passage seats. All other considerations are in the trunk.

  4. Where is Sam Barry when DeAndre Jordan really needs him right down the street?
