Pat Haden and J.K. McKay, the co-CIF players of the year in 1970, with the 4-A championship trophy after leading Bishop Amat to the title with an 18-17 OT victory over Lakewood. Haden completed 537 of 850 passesĀ for 7,633 yards and 82 TDs in his career while McKay caught 207 passes for 3,389 yards and 48 TDs.

  1. I wonder if jk McKay was even that good of a football player. Throughout his high school, and college career his bff was his quarterback. And you just know that Haden threw to McKay more than he should have. Also his father was the coach at USC.

    I was once watching a documentary on the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers titled “the worst team in NFL history.” As you guys know this team was coached by John McKay. In this documentary, many players on that team said that mckay’s son wasn’t even close to being good enough to play in the NFL. It was very apparent to them that the only reason he was there was because he was the coaches son. So I just wonder did jk McKay have any talent, or was it all politics.
