USC Morning Buzz: Pac-12 Meetings Held Today

USC president Max Nikias will be in San Francisco today as the Pac-12’s chancellors and presidents meet with commissioner Larry Scott. Perhaps Scott’s $4 million salary will be a topic. Not really. The presidents approved what he got paid a long time ago. And the Pac-12 Network’s inability to be viewed by many fans will also not be discussed much. But there will probably be something announced about concern for the student-athletes. Unless it means not playing a 7 p.m. football game.

  1. How about discussions of an eight game Pac 12 season? That would be nice.

  2. How many of Wolf’s personal pet peeves can he attach to the topic “Pac 12 Meetings Held Today”?

  3. wolfman, tell us again how it is that Southern Cal, who fancies ITSELF a preeminent powerhouse (even if no one else does) only gets as much money as Colorado and Wash St??? GEEZ LOIUSE, wolfman, Teams like Texas get their OWN NETWORK!!! and the SEC teams are RAKING IT IN!!!

why did Southern Cal lose it’s nerve and go along with the deal for chump change?? wolfman, they can’t even AFFORD to field a Softball team!! they could afford Beach VB only because they only had to buy one ball and the girls provide their OWN UNIS!!

    • Stick to the troll manual Chuck. Remember if it’s not witty or insightful it just makes you seem like a loser.

  4. Once again, if interested in any detail and context check out the college blog of Jon Wilner at the mercury news

    • Sooner Scott’s contract is up the better – $25.2 / 12 = $2 mil per school. Contrast w. both the Big 10 and SEC $32 million for each school.

Scott is the highest paid commissioner in the country – $4 mil. per year.

      • Can’t say I disagree with you. The more I read about the Pac12 Network & the PAc 12 the less sure I am about how to fix the problems. I think one problem that will never go away is that big10 & SEC audiences will always bring bigger Viewing #s than the Pac12. But that said, I have to believe there is a solution to the Direct TV issue. But then again maybe not –look at the Dodger tv fiasco.

  5. Hopefully, Max Nikias will read that Scott has accused the Pac 12 hierarchy with misbegotten priorities (mixed with hypocrisy), realize that tender feelings may have been hurt… and open the meeting with Mel Brooks’ soothing words to Frankenstein’s Monster—-“Why do they hate you? Because….they are jealous. You are not evil. You…are…good…. (and, looking in Larry Scott’s direction),
This is a mother’s child. This is a good boy.”

  6. I’ll bet the University Presidents don’t approve of what a mess Larry Scott has made of the PAc-12 network.
