Pac-12 Wants To Ban Spring Break Football Practices

The Pac-12 has an initiative that would ban football practices on spring break like Michigan did last past spring. The initiative would not prohibit practicing during Christmas break, of course, when bowl games take place. It seems like another way to react to something Jim Harbaugh is doing.

  1. Jim Harbaugh seems to have frightened a lot of people. .lol The Pac 12 is weak in football, and will continue to be if they keep hiring spread coaches…lol

    • Are you referring to the latest head coach of USC, who ran a spread offense at Memphis before he came to Troy in 2010?

      • That would be correct, along with Arizona, Oregon, Washington State, Arizona state, and probably Oregon state. The Pac 12 is turning into the old WAC of yesteryear ..lol all show, and no go

        • So does that translate into failure in the NCAA football playoff when the finesse teams have to compete against smash mouth football?

          • Only time will tell, but remember, you win championships from the inside out , so we’ll eventually see what it translates to.

          • The one thing Helton harps on at every turn is increased toughness. The guy’s solid blue collar even though USC forces him to drive a Fletcher Jones Mercedes.

He seems fully dedicated to that toughness which would lead me to believe he’d like to run the ball and control the LOS. If he’s a liar, he’ll go down fast. If not, he’s at the school that can sign the talent to win big.

          • I think our upperclassmen Mama, Talamaivao, Lobendahn, Banner, and Wheeler will turn the corner and use all that experience led by Callaway an actual OL teacher and coach which will be a big part of our “toughness”. Helton has to stick by his guns like you say and follow through with running the ball first.

          • Hope you are right sas. Having a high school OL coach was really a low moment.

          • Callaway comes with a good background. Let’s say for argument sake he’s just an average OLINE Coach, this group on the line should click seeing they will have been together three years playing next to each other.

        • You forgot to mention Fla. St, Clemson, Ohio St to name some more that run the so called Spread Offense.

  2. Dabo Swinney, Chip Kelly, Gus Malzahn, Urban Meyer all run some form of a so called spread offense. That term is not used By coaches. The term ” Spread Offense ” is for the general public to have easier time understanding the game. Similar to the term ” Point Guard”. Coaches won’t use the term Point Guard.
