  1. Scott, maybe you can write about the current situation between the NCAA and Todd McNair.
Think about all the men and women who have served their country, and even given their lives. Make that a reason to give it your all and write some solid ‘Inside’ posts, not this half*ss stuff you write..

  2. Excited Helton brought in a better D-coordinator but he also sabotaged it with a D-line position coaching hire.

    • They should have stayed with Chris Wilson. He was a good coach. He must have had 25-30 years of experience. When SC let him go, it was only a short time before Missouri grabbed him and then they couldn’t hold him because the Eagles wanted him. He had great connections in recruiting down south and on top of that we were getting a really good tight end for free(his son Caleb). They say that they let him go because a lot of the players didn’t like him. I don’t think that a lot of the players liked Vince Lombardi or Bobby Knight. Since when is hiring a coach a popularity contest. You hire a coach because he can coach not because he can win friends and influence people.

      • Agree with almost every word you wrote, jim —-but Udeze may just surprise us…

        • If he turns out to be a great coach, that won’t surprise me at all. I expect him to be a great coach. I just hope that he is keeping in touch with Pete Jenkins(the guy coach O brought in when he was the interim coach). We need a great coach now. SC is not the place for on the job training. They brought Jenkins in during spring practice. I’m sure he is still meeting with Udeze and he can help because Udeze has tutored under him before and they know each other well.

          • The Jenkins/Udeze pairing is smart for a bunch of reasons—not the least of which is, although young coaches need veteran guidance, young players need to identify with their coaches. I think Monte Kiffin’s biggest problem, fairly or unfairly, was the fact that, due to his age [not his schemes], the players never got fully pumped playing for him.

          • Monte Kiffen was just too old. There may be some coaches that can continue to do it into their 70’s like Bill Snyder but coaching college football is a highly stressful 20 hours a day job. Guys that old just don’t have the fire anymore.

          • Agreed —which, by the way, brings us back to the perfect blend of age and youth, Jenkins/Udeze…..

          • I don’t know if they are using Jenkins but I suspect that they are behind the scenes. If they are using him, that is a good combo. Jenkins has the experience and Udeze has the fire and charisma.

  3. If they get 10 wins we may have found the next Pete Carroll. This years schedule is brutal. I say 8 wins.

  4. To those people who have the Trojans winning 12 games, you guys need a serious reality check. It’s you people, who are such a cancer to USC. It’s national championship or bust for you people. I remember after the Trojans lost that thriller to Texas, there were some USC fans complaining that the Trojans let them down, even though they had won the previous 34 games. You people are those “trust fund babies” who are miles and miles away from reality.

USC was 8-6 last year. There will be no drama as far as the head coach is concerned this year. But Pete Carroll isn’t walking through that door. He was a special coach, and with all due respects to clay Helton he is no Pete Carroll. Plus USC lost an under appreciated quarterback in Cody Kessler. He was an awesome leader, and he will be missed next year. I have a better chance of being named president of the United States, than the Trojans have of winning 12 games next year.

      • 8 is realistic in season and the bowl game 9. Way to early to give em 10-11 win predictions.. And who cares what the ruins do I DUNT!

        • CowPolyFan3.0 is back! How many wins do you predict for the Mustangs this season?

          • I am a true trojan like my wife and other members our family..I have been off I-USC for a reason, my 57 year old brother lost his 25 year battle with diabetes..

          • Wrong, your wife is a true Trojan. You are a Cow Poly grad who is whipped and has to root for USC or you sleep on the couch. Sorry about your older brother, did he go to Cow Poly also, CowPolyFan3.0?

          • LOL Tell us, how is the weather in Vegas today? You already made the mistake of admitting you live there, CowPolyFan3.0.

          • Cal poly is a great school. It is very difficult to get accepted there. It much harder to get into cal poly, than it was to get into USC, back in the 80’s when you went to USC.

People go to cal poly, because they want to be an engineer, or an arhictect. It is a school that intensely focuses on those trades. I don’t know why you are bagging on cal poly.

          • I mean this literally, but gt22 is Wolff. Gt22 always has the same opinion as Wolff, and this goes back along time. It’s impossible for two different people to have the exact same view on hundreds of different topics. But gt22 and Wolff do.

I had to ad an extra f to the blogger’s last name, because if you wrote down the name of the blogger, or any of the usernames here it won’t get past the sensors.

          • It’s impossioble for you to be a bigger brainless rah rah, XtraStupid32. You are at Jacqui levels of sucking up to the party line.

          • Have you ever noticed that it’s always you against everyone else? And your insults are just plain amateur!

          • I loved how you spammed this place for a month straight in your manic phase and then disappeared in your depressive phase. So signature of your mental condition, CowPolyFan3.0.

          • We know you went to Cow Poly so you can drop the act. How is the weather in Vegas today, CowPolyFan3.0?

          • Yes our favorite SLO poster. He knows the UCSB-Cow Poly rivalry like no other.

          • For the last time bruin troll who has issues that he has to sit 24/7 on a USC blog that has nothing to do with his school, that is if you went to Ucla..

I am NOT CP3-4-5-6.. Sadly you have no business on this site..and I am not a grad from CP..

I graduated from USC in 1986 with a degree in business from the MBS .. Yes I attended UNLV for my Masters and returned to USC Law School..

My wife is 8 years younger than I, and she also has a law degree from USC..

Not sure who and why you think I’m someone else (CP3) ..apparently you have a love for the guy, so go find him on the CP blog..

I really don’t like being called a liar, That I am NOT..

And you will never see me on a Ucla site slamming them, goes to show you are a classless worm with no life..

            Enjoy your day!

Take a F’n hike with your BULL..

            D-86

          • Yet here you are spamming away when you went to Cow Poly, CowPolyFan3.0.

          • You are a f##king dumb### .. Whatever you think, I dont give a Rats A## .. Honestly you need help.. unstable mental case.

          • Temper temper CowPolyFan3.0. Did they teach you that in Horse Show Class?

          • I bet you wouldnt’t talk sh*t in front of me, trust me, you would not be a happy camper. Enjoy your night as you think about that! #kravmaga

    • A lot of people looked at the words above the poll and somehow read them as “Wishful Thinking Poll.” Yeah, 8 games is more like it —but if they are the ‘right’ 8 games, it would still be pretty cool……..

      • There are some USC alums, who think they should win every game. And when they lose no matter how much success the team is having, they whine and moan like crazy. It doesn’t help the football team out. I remember the 2009 season when the Trojans went into halftime, down by a lot to Stanford. Many in the coli booed the team, and it really upset them. Some USC fans are just perfectionists!

        • I know. And this season is gonna be a bit hard on the perfectionists. [But, for the rest of us, there could be some great moments]….

          • USC is about championships. The program should always be competeing in the national spotlight and be building toward titles. It should strive for excellence. It shouldn’t tolerate incompetence. The last 7 years have been a disaster with 5 coaches. We can only hope the administration has learned from the Haden Era and has decided to make a commitment to excellence.

          • A commitment to excellence, gotroy22, is gonna take ONE MORE housecleaning (disruptive as that will be). And, if Helton loses any two games in a row, Swann is just the guy to do it.

          • I hope you are right. I consider Helton a place holder until we get a top flight head coach and staff installed.

          • Helton lacks killer instinct, Swann is all about killer instinct—–the handwriting is on the wall, my brother.

        • ExtraStupid32 is the kind of USC Fan that likes to shake his yellow pom pom, tolerates mediocrity, defends paid mercenary university employees like Sark over the players and doesn’t care about championships.

    • You brainless pom pom shaking rah rahs are the cancer on the program with your tolerance for mediocrity.

  5. This is the first year in which I’m not concerned about win totals – It’s a program that’s building a rock solid foundation with a good man at the helm. What matters is the 2-3 year win totals, to be honest.

  6. 9 regular season and the bowl game. I would expect them to start slow, 1-2, but finish strong, maybe a late season let down. Helton and his staff are the unknown. Can they coach this team up? Will be refreshing to just be about football.
