USC Morning Buzz: Does The Pac-12 Provide Value For Money?

COLISEUM.CROWD.ARK.STATESo let’s say you are a USC season-ticket holder. You have tickets for six games at the Coliseum. Right now, you are looking at an 11 a.m. kickoff against Utah State and a Thursday night 7:30 game against Cal.

You have to figure Notre Dame and Oregon will be 5 p.m. games (or even later for Oregon). And Arizona State and Colorado could easily be night games. It’s the Pac-12’s typical wide array of kickoffs.

Now I can skip watching NFL games every Sunday but I wonder how other fans might feel when they can purchase a Rams season ticket for as little as $360 and attend seven games that always start at 1 p.m. or 1:25 p.m. at the Coliseum. There is something to be said for consistency.

  1. Compared to what USC could have gotten on their own without the Pac12 contract it’s not a good value. When Larry Scott is finally relieved of his duties, perhaps then the conference can get a TV deal with DirecTV and open up the viewership to a much wider audience. Scott has to go.

  2. With a season ticket costing about 60 times what I paid when I first bought them I now pick and choose the games I go see in those uncomfortable pink chairs. This year I am buying 3 games. And I will still record the games.

  3. The Rams haven’t been good since 1999 Super Bowl. LA will not support mediocre teams whatever the time is.

  4. As much as I love SC football, I would rather not spend my Saturday night watching a game. Football should be played in the afternoon.

  5. Why are 1:00 kickoffs so great? I don’t want to tailgate at 10 in the morning.

  6. Foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds…. or something to that effect. You need to make a better argument (and there are better arguments) for the various start times. You tend to lay out a spattering of facts and expect your users to make your argument for you….. better writers would do it themselves.

  7. Is it safe to say that Larry Scott will NEVER reach an agreement with Directv? Neither I nor my friends with Directv will ever drop Directv for lousy cable just for obtain the Pac-12 Network. We are going on four years without a contract with Directv while the other conferences are getting massive exposure on Directv and making millions more per school than the Pac-12 schools.
