A Suggestion For USC

Tennessee announced today it will cancel classes and most campus offices will be closed on Sept. 1 because the Volunteers have a Thursday night game against Appalachian State to accommodate traffic, parking and security.

USC should try that as it hosts another Thursday night game this season at the Coliseum. Instead USC bans on-campus parking or tailgating for its Thursday games.

  1. Fortunately USC is more focused on academics than Tennessee and will not cancel a day of learning so students can get snockered.

    • Good one, Scottie! Why not cancel all fall classes because they’re disrupting football fandom in general?

    • Helen,
No SC student I ever met that was US citizen EVER scheduled a class after noon on Thursday during football season and none ever had a Friday class after their freshman year.
Granted, I didn’t know many engineering majors but that was probably the language barrier thing.
“A day of learning” was never a Friday at SoCal.

    • That’s what b.s. sanctions can do to you. Then again, they were the #1 team in the nation during those sanctions – not terrible.

  2. The most amazing thing is they are expecting traffic a) In Tennessee and b) for Appalachian State. For those of you counting at home, only 17 more days……

    • Then again what else is there to do in: Knoxville-TN, Lincoln-NE, State College-PA, Athens-GA, Oxford-MS, Columbia-SC, Columbus-OH, Ann Arbor-MI, Tuscaloosa-AL, etc..?

      • Besides the “I do tricks for drinks.” at the “Empty Bottle” show and your panhandling route Commie SUCC, what do you do that’s so different in the cities you arrogantly pan?

  3. I don’t think that the University of Tennessee is too concerned about jeopardizing their academic standing as tied for the 103rd highest ranked university in the US, where 1 out of 4 applicants do get denied admission.

USC has a higher academic standard and not being able to tailgate on campus for one home game is a price that I as an USC Alumni twice am willing to pay. Tailgating on campus is truly one of the most enjoyable activities in my life but we can miss one game and let USC continue to climb academically as it has for the past several decades.

  4. Why encourage Thursday night games? Make it difficult and maybe the networks and Larry Scott will quit.
