USC Morning Buzz: Nothing Spells Perfection Like El Camino College

I said Thursday that West Virginia QB David Sills’ transfer to El Camino College was probably orchestrated by his guru, Steve Clarkson. Well, it turns out El Camino’s offensive coordinator, Tim Kaub, works at Clarkson quarterback camps. And it was Clarkson who called Sills a “perfect quarterback.” I didn’t realize perfect quarterbacks go to El Camino. But Baby Quarterbacks do. USC coach Steve Sarkisian nudged him elsewhere after getting hired. That led to West Virginia, which switched him to wide receiver.

Maybe Tate Martell will be at El Camino College in three years too since he is also a Clarkson client.

Here’s a fun fact: When USC held its Rising Stars camp before in 2013 it rated the top three quarterbacks as (in order) Ricky Town, Josh Rosen and Sills. How was Rosen behind Town?!?!

  1. We get it you don’t like Clarkson cause you think he hypes his clients to much. I wonder how he feels about you using a kid like Sills to constantly mock for your own demented self serving views?

  2. This post reminds me when Stu’s girlfriend, Tiffany, was voted Homecoming Queen at Palisades High. It was about six miles from her house to school. After the homecoming game she and Stu rode their horses back to her house. In the opinion of the Committee of Seven, Tiffany, Sunset (her horse), Midnight (Stu’s horse) and Stu were all headed to UCLA in the Fall. Tiffany and Stu wound up at USC and the horses did not attend college. So much for opinions. The question is why spend time discussing someone’s opinion about something from years ago? The answer is because you don’t have to put much effort into the process. P.S. Midnight and Sunset were married in Hana, Maui, just down the road from the Hasegawa General Store, and now have a filly (Morning Star) and a colt (Drumbeat) running around the stable. Drumbeat is being heavily recruited by all the big schools, except USC. Probably because the pundits, sportswriters and recruiters haven’t taken the time to discover that Drumbeat has four legs, Drumbeat is not concerned, he didn’t want to play college football anyway, although he runs a 3.88 40. He’s planning on running for Student Body Vice President at El Camino College.

  3. Maybe if the Countess, who was a summer visitor in Bay Head, New Jersey, had used her influence with men (they always would do anything she asked) things would have turned out differently. Unfortunately her evenings consisted mostly of dancing at the yacht club and the men had things other than college football on their minds. P.S. Tiffany and the Countess met at the yacht club and later spent time together in Toms River, where years later Tiffany opened the fortune cookie at the Chinese restaurant.

  4. Funny, Helen the Hirsute also thought Ricky was better then Josh.

  5. I heard that Kiffin was recruiting Sills to breed him with a jackal and bring about 1,000 years of darkness.

  6. C’mon. I realize that it’s only June, but there’s more USC Football going on right now. You could start with a participation list of Player Run Practices. Who’s in attendance, who’s not?

    • He would rather bash the heck out of some poor kid simply because of a half dozen year old endorsement from Kiffin, and an indirect affiliation with Sark

      • People can say whatever about him and Petros. That they tell it like it is and they care about USC. But they also have their own agenda of bashing and jealousy talk.

          • J. There’s a reason why Bruin Matt Steven’s used to embarrass Petros by choking him during USC/UCLA sports magazine show (remember those). He bugs the crap out of people. SW gives the vibe that he has a list of people that says revenge on the top of the paper.

          • I have to give him cred for even stepping on that campus, and he keeps going back.
In terms of danger it must rank up there with cameramen in Afghanistan.
I can see the headline now:

“Sports blogger killed in kiln explosion”

          • Say what? Wasn’t UCLA’S campus the setting for a few shootings a few weeks ago. And someone setting a sorority house on fire burning a female students to death in her sleep???

  7. SW you Stalk this kid like you do your man crush Kiffy…. How about news from Camps? How about story that Randall Cunningham has a realistic shot to make Olympic team? How about report from player led practices? Or let’s shift to some of your Golden Oldies…. Sark’s coi pond? Did his house sell? All life on earth connected to Clay Helton’s father? Sill’s has a long road ahead, let him go. It will be OK SW.

      • Buddy,do you think we need to get QB this
        Year? I don’t think it’s a priority.There’s a little
chance Browne transfers,if Darnold leaves no
doubt and grabs starting job early in aug.But it’s not
likely to play out that way.
Corral ,I strongly believe will be a Trojan,2018.
The only real reason would be if we took someone to
keep him away from another program. What’s your
        Thoughts?

        • If Tua Tagovailoa will come on board I say yes, i think we put in a lot of time with him. He’s probably out of reach now, but if he’d come back into the fold i would be ok with that. But i don’t think QB is a priority for us. That being said Helton, Tyson Helton, and Tee Martin are all QB’S and might force the issue and might feel it’s important. I’d rather stock up on big 4-star/5-star Defensive Tackles.

          • Exactly. OL DL, Secondary throw in couple good LB’s
Sprinkel with a couple 5* RB , 2 Wr. and serve..

  8. Clarkson is a goober. He said Sills was going to be the next Lebron. The WV coach said he loved him as a receiver, but said he is not a quarterback.

  9. ECC will be playing in a brand new stadium this fall so Sills has that going for him.
The old Murdock Stadium was very cool, probably the best JC stadium in the country whatever that’s worth. It was once home to the Los Angeles Aztecs of the old NASL.

    • CB, I’m reading the post-block feature blogs here between Trojans. Apparently, this form of social media in-breeding quickly and severely degrades the viability of the pack (or is it herd) in terms of intellectual capacity. There never was much humor but now discourse has devolved into random drivel.
      Surprising? No, interesting? Quite

      • The Cadre served as the Apex predators on this blog and culled out the weak trOXans…same thing happened with the white sharks. Once they were reduced in numbers, the seal population exploded.
