Subtle Uniform Change Question

With a cardinal collar and cardinal cuffs, why aren’t the cardinal jerseys following suit? The easy answer is because it would look awful with a gold collar and cuffs. But is the uniform really uniform if the home and road do not even match?

You know when that happened before? In the late 1960’s. Look at these 1968 home and away jerseys in the pictures below

  1. I think you are knit picking but yes they wouldn’t match obversely – no big deal

  2. This is officially one of the stupidest ever by SW. Is SC’s uniform really uniform? Who cares? Wear what looks best. Trim usually looks best on white. Duh.

  3. I’m on the fence with the trim but as long as it is none of that all black or crazy alternate combos that Nike wants USC to so desperately wear.

Nike has no business whatsoever dictating to USC what uniforms or colors it should wear. Ever.

    • Why would you ever think that Nike would dictate to USC? That’s never happened and never will.

USC is Nike’s client. It’s our choice. We approve what they suggest, if we want. We dictate what we want and we turn down what we don’t like. If USC doesn’t like it. it doesn’t show up.

In all reality, Nike does what we say. Not sure why you would think Nike dictates to USC. It’s the other way around.

      • Uh, uncle Phil has been trying to get USC to wear his clown suit combo’s since they signed them up

        • So what? Uncle Phil doesn’t make the calls. USC does. If he doesn’t like it, we’ve got plenty of options.

          • The last five or so years Nike’s made SC a few different looks and all were turned away by USC, as you said. Last year before Sark was fired, Sark had picked an alternate uniform and told the recruits USC would wear them for 2016. That’s all history now. But I have a feeling Ol’ Sarky was gonna jump the gun and try and wear them for the Alabama game. And since he was always wearing black they would probably have been some black alternates. Sure glad that we haven’t given in to wearing anything just to attract kids like Oregon does every week. Do they even remember their school colors?

          • Well, like Sark, I’ve had some absolutely brilliant ideas after a few pops. The difference is that I wasn’t at work at the time.
            P.S. “Old Sarky?”

    • Sorry John, I hate to disagree, but that Trojan can never come off of our helmets. It’s like an awesome scar, or cool birthmark now. Never.

  4. If they wear day glow Cardinal and Gold I really don’t care as long as they win. But those Christmas bulb helmets look stupid.

  5. John, I’m agree with you 100 % on all blogged issues, especially the late 1960’s home and away uniform colors, displayed in SW’s photos modeled by OJ and our Defense. Very sharp looking colors, indeed !!!

  6. If I recall Rodney Peete, and Todd Marinovich’s teams had the Cardinal collar and cuffs. It’s not new to the Trojans history. NO BIG DEAL.

  7. Scotty, your question is poorly worded and it’s unclear if you are asking when the uniforms were uniform or when they were not.
My best guess is you posted this picture to show the similarity in home and road uniforms. If so, they are not uniform. the road jerseys do not have a contrasting stripe around the shoulder.

Having said that, those are pretty cool unis.
