USC released a video of its new jerseys earlier today. An amazing coincidence as I wrote about them last week. No one reads this blog at USC. Anyways, what do you think? The collar seems a little overbearing on first look and the cuffs seem a little thin to me, especially when shoulder pads are worn. That’s not a collar, it’s a neck roll.

SW loves to Pat himself on the back. Those peristyle podcast aren’t bad at all if they can stay at around 30 minutes. The podcast over at rivals/USC are 1hr-1hr35mins. That’s too long. But I actually liked the whole podcast yesterday all about the OLINE.
Changing the school color isn’t a big deal? Would changing the Dodger colors to Maroon and Green be a big deal to you?

It was Uncle Phil’s special gift to the Trojans. The only downside is we have to wear green shoes with yellow laces.

Scott, I understand the being a beat writer with the Trojans means you have to maintain your credibility by being objective, but you really go overboard to portray that objectivity. Either that, or you are just a good old-fashion curmudgeon who likes to critique and complain about anything. But since you asked for this feedback, I find this new uni to be stylish without being garish. And it certainly doesn’t break with tradition. The collar isn’t overbearing at all. In fact, it actually makes a nice statement, and the thin cuffs play off well against the shoulder accents. You should probably stick to journalism, Scott, unless you allow us to critique your wardrobe…
I actually like it, but I wish the athletic department would stop acting so insecure about the uniforms, because schools that have deep tradition don’t need to change. Ohio state, Texas, Oklahoma, Michigan.
Yet Pat Haden must think SC isn’t one of the big boys. He let Nike change the color from cardinal to crimson.

Well, yes, you did write about uniforms last week, but you do that pretty much every other week too. It isn’t a coincidence as much as it is nearly the literal definition of a broken clock being right twice a day.
They’re okay a bit streamlined. But years ago shoulder pads were wider and helmets had ear bumps. It is the current trend.
I doubt it will detract from the player performance. Most of all, us idiots that wear the latest will have shell out another 80 bucks to fit in.
Fox Sports reporting that UCLA DC Tom Bradley knew of Sandusky’s abuse for years. Yikes!

What fckn color is that? It doesn’t even match the SC logo in the picture. Even if my screen was off, the fact that the two colors are getting that way off, is odd. I get a more saturated look, a deeper version of our cardinal, etc. The same way I get the metallic paint in the helmets that make them shimmer. But I hope they don’t go making it the other direction, more purple like Barney or the helmets more like Christmas bulbs. All in all though, I’m comfortable in the minor adjustments. Far better than “alternate uniforms”.
