The Pac-12 takes plenty of criticism over officiating. So David Coleman, the conference’s vice president of officiating, made a couple of points this week: Pac-12 refs were picked for the College Football Playoff championship game and four other bowls games. Seventy six percent of the conference refs got a postseason assignment.
What did not get mentioned was the gaffe during the national title game between Clemson and Alabama, when the clock started before the refs set the ball down after a first down, which forced Clemson to burn a timeout because the clock started prematurely.
Sabin asked for it. so the NCAA did it.
You just can’t get this inside information anywhere else.
Did the blogger ask about it? Or, rely on everyone else’s work…? (Per usual)
We’ve all witnessed sloppy clock work. Responsibility for the clock should rest with the head linesman..
