  1. Real reason. Because Saban told the kid to get into better shape during the spring when he weighed 345lbs. He currently weighs 345. He wasn’t expected to be a starter for the SC game despite being a preseason 2nd team All Conference linemen. He actually set an example, but it’s a slap in the face to the kid since Robinson and the other Bama player weren’t disciplined.

    • Let’s see if the suspension is 7 weeks or more – if Nick needs him he’ll be on the field 3rd September.

      • After “having his players back”, Saban’s gonna look two faced now to the media and maybe some of his locker room.

        • Just imagine if he (Sabin) loses this game – I know he is terrified it could happen.

          • No more Kirby Smart as his Defensive Coordinator, Heisman trophy RB is gone, breaking in a new QB, two DT’S gone in the NFL draft, didn’t suspend his projected 1st round LT, all leading into an opening game against USC. He’s nervous.

          • I hope not. Maybe the first Drive of the ball game, but after learning and watching for three years he better show some poise.

          • First start of his career and against Bama. That’s a tough task for almost anyone, but I expect to see him compete with the offense all returning.

          • We’re USC – you want a tune-up schedule go play for bel-air tech or for that matter any school in the SEC – Furman? Charleston So.? FL A&M? Western IL? Lamar?

          • Sam—do you have any idea how ‘back’ we’d be if we annihilated Alabama?

          • I’ve said this time after time, the best chance to beat Alabama and Lane Kiffin when he’s still trying to find his Offensive identity and strengths is in the seasons first game.

          • I totally agree, Sam. Even with all their losses on both sides of the ball, Bama fans expect LAST year’s team to take the field on September 3rd. That said, I still think we have a WAY better chance of beating these guys in a shoot out than we do in a physical, grind it out, field position game.

          • The more I think about it, wide open, balls out offense is the way to go— it wouldn’t be like those shootouts we got into with the premier Oregon teams in years past —Alabama doesn’t have the kind of offense to keep up in that kind of game. Lots of shots down field, lots of risk taking and never take the foot off the pedal—and let them see if they can keep up for four full quarters.

          • Clemson put up 40 points on Alabama’s Defense. Offensively I think we can strike early and quick. Juju Smith Schuster was by far the best receiver in the nation and when he played with the last 4 games with an injured hand he still made plays. He’s gonna make plays and/or demand double coverage and we’re gonna open the field. Bama doesn’t see Offensive teams with talent like SC’S very often.

          • As usual, well said, Sam. Unless Max freezes, our offense is gonna be murder to contain. And I don’t think Max will freeze.

          • Yep, marv. A win would completely redeem USC football. In many ways, this is a do or die game. The players understand that. The coaches understand that. I think Alabama is gonna face a bunch of wild men who are playing like their hair is on fire.

          • I can see Kiffin taking over meetings i.e. “Hey Lou sorry but time to listen! Let me tell you what to expect on the 3rd – I’ve been there, I know that squad. You guys haven’t a clue of the culture ….blah blah blah…

and frankly they will listen not saying any of it’ll make a bit of sense but they will.

Lord help Kiffin if the game is lost on an AL blown offensive play.

          • If Bama loses to USC, Kiffin will not only have to find his own ride home—-he will never reach home.

          • Offensively I think we can keep it a close game. Our defensive line holding up for 4 quarters will be the question, but the whole OLINE returns except Tuerk, our WR’S, our RB’s all return with experience. Browne (who I think will start) will have the benefit of playing behind an experienced and veteran offense.

  2. All “indefinitely” means is that there is nothing definite about when or if he is coming back. I don’t think that it absolutely means that he won’t play against SC.

  3. Is this the old broken wing ploy? How can they possibly win without _____ (fill in the blank.)
I hope USC still prepares for the best roster.
Also many’s the time the backup gets a ego boost which puts them in a better place than the regular player.

  4. Interesting thought, bama is preparing for Browne, however, you start Jaleen Greene as the starting qb because he can scramble. After you get up by 14 points, then bring in Brown for ground control and run it down their throats.
