USC Morning Buzz: Do You Agree On This Offensive Line Opinion?

Matt Leinart suggests USC has a top-five offensive line. Everyone is back. But they certainly were not top five last season. This means everyone is making a big leap in improvement. They are No. 1 in the nation in career starts. But if that were the case with Washington State would a Fox Sports analyst say they should be top five?

  1. Why do I get the feeling that some of these units like the O-Line just got “tougher” when Helton was named the permanent head coach?

  2. At a point with injuries last year we played with 4 string center. Add a terrible line coach and you get mediocre performance. They still have to prove themselves but all signs point to a great oline this year.

  3. Speaking of the offensive line….did anyone see where former Bruin and 49er Randy Cross called UCLA soft physically and mentally? I guess putting on the war paint every now and then doesn’t make you tough.

    • I just listened to it – he followed that up with “Until they’re know for something more than a blonde haired throwing QB they’re not going anywhere…’

      • Wow. Cross really delivered the hurt to the little gutties: land of Bucket Girl, Just Squats (too dumb to get in) and Dumber in Wimpwood. Funny stuff.

  4. Matt is suggesting, not saying it is..the general consensus is USC will do much better this year given the experience and a coach that is prepared to put the Oline in position to do better than last year.. The Oline is healthy.. No reason for improvement..

    • Coach Callaway has made huge impact coaching the OL.Players talk about , talent, experience and guys ready to excel. Players who have been here 3 years+ mentioned the weight room, condition rooms are packed. They used to see 20 guys around. Now 50+ is the normal.Nobody wants to left behind. Callaway has drilled condition and proper weight into OL.

      • Back to the Cross interview – he made note of how NFL team mgmt. (owners) are now giving equal input to computer geeks and that is a detriment both in play and on draft day – i.e. the coaches know what is best not some MBA out of Wharton.

Same with MLB – look at Freidman elevating himself to ‘president’ and then conning the owners into assigning the ‘gm’ duties to a lower ranked hire.

  5. ‘If’ bel-air tech loses on the 15th October @ WA St. be sure they’ll swear WA St. is the best O Line in the country.

    • stay FOCUSED, Dummy! your thoughts are always FIXATED on UCLA, no matter the topic!!

the Cadre should be paying RENT we’ve been living in your cranium so long!!

      • I swear double nickel I’m with you –

wins – Cal, OR St., UNLV and CO.

        The rest losses.

    • If Bel-Air tech of Wimpwood loses to WASU, Mora will get another contract extension. LOL.

  6. Just because the blogger gets progressively worse every year… Doesn’t mean everyone else does.

        • I once said “good morning’ to a UCLA fan at the Rose Bowl—he asked, “did you just tell me to go to hell?”

          • i am SHOCKED to hear of this ill-mannered Bruin!! if any Cadre had been around, i assure you this miscreant would have his ears boxed for this rude behavior AND he would be compelled to APOLOGIZE!!

to be a Bruin is to be a GENTLEMAN and scholar, but a gentleman first and foremost!

if you can provide a date of this offense and a description of the perpetrator, you have my word the Cadre will find him and bring him to justice…

            #OneThousandApologies

          • He was wearing an American flag around his shoulders, a Hillary haircut, a touch of tastefully applied lipstick ….and, oh yeah, one of those free Burger King paper crowns…..

        • That’s what you’ve been doing since the day I came here. You can’t go one day without living with USC. But I’ve made my peace with you Chuck.

  7. okay wolfman, here comes a avalanche of thin-skinned defensive responses and excuse making!! GOSH!!! you can’t even state simple FACTS around here without everyone FREAKING OUT!!!

    #EmotionalTrOXans

  8. I definitely agree, that USC’s offense line has the talent, poor coaching was a huge factor , the last couple of year’s, let give this new coach a chance, let’s see if he can get the big uglys motivate, and to play with a mean streak

      • hey, no Comicon updates???? dint they just have the Granddady of all comicons in San Dago?? what about the Best Costume contest???

        #WhoWonI’veGotToKnow

        • I heard GollomNoid was gaga about the world premiere of “Star Trek Beyond” earlier this week and camped out all night at the Comic Con 2016 at San Diego to get a front row seat at today’s Star Trek 50th anniversary panel in Hall H.

The panel this afternoon featured the original Captain Kirk, William Shatner (who got a standing ovation from GollomNoid and the rest packed house or dorks), plus franchise stars Scott Bakula, Michael Dorn, Jeri Ryan, and Next Generation‘s Brent Spiner, another fan favorite. GollomNoid said that Spiner’s impression of Patrick Stewart arguing that Captain Picard was the best USS Enterprise leader was the panel highlight.

          • now THAT’s what i’m talkin’ ’bout!!!

come to think of it, wolfman would be STRIKING in a Star trek jersey…Jean Luc Picard II???

  9. Top 5 ?

This Offensive Line “should” be Number “#1” in the Country ao now it’s up to Cab Callaway to make it happen !

And considering this is Mad Max’s first year at the reigns this is needed (Absolutely Necessary) !!

Unlike all of the calls about the Defensive Line, all things will be measured from the play of the Offensive Line where the protection and running lanes will either carry the Trojans to Greatness or an 8 – 4 regular season…

This current USC Trojan Offensive is up their with the Best of them and has all of the Talent to prove it !

    FightOn

    • The offensive line needs to dominate and keep the ball that way our defense isn’t always on the field. Dominate the run and we’ll be fine.

        • On the OLINE. Yes. This the best depth we’ve had since Pete was here. But more importantly I think we have a legitimate OL Coach with Callaway. We’ll see how we measure up fast in September.

  10. Things are looking up for SoCal. It’s hard for anyone to say how good the new coaching staff is at this point. We know SoCal has talent and that this staff is far less stupid than it’s two predecessors.
Helton actually suspended a player which means he is probably light years ahead of his last three predecessors in the ethics category. Only one thing. Still got one of the old school, win any way you can guys at A.D. By the way, anyone heard from Pat?

    • Patty whoden. Last I heard he was robbing old folks homes I should see him soon.

  11. Hunter Echols and a Ucla commit had lunch at USC today.. They are a possible package deal.. #ooohnoobruinfail

    • For what its worth DE Jacob Lichtenstein of Fort Lauderdale, Florida who recently visited UCLA, but visited SC yesterday and is still on campus was just picked by Ryan Bartow (National Recruiting Director of 247) to go to SC about an hour ago…I’m sure he had a pizza or two with Hunter today.

  12. Tim Drevno had the same offensive line firing off the ball with authority, but the Bob Connolly Clown, messed them up with his clown coaching

  13. Smh ..Lmao.. The trolls are trying spin this as crazy troxans fans.. At least we are NOT on the rival site 24/7.. #headspinning

  14. Another factor in OL underperformance was that Cody Kessler took too long to release the ball. That is why the USC OL was weak in pass protection. Another factor was that Kessler had only one receiver and would look and look again for him to get open. Whoever they pick for QB should have a quick release and be able to deliver the ball to multiple receivers, especially on broken plays. If I played QB they would be the worst in CFB.

  15. They will have to prove it. Bad Bob Connolly could not coach the line to get out of a wet paper bag.
