Since we already posted a 1985 photo, here’s safety/cornerback Junior Thurman returning an interception 28 yards for a touchdown against Oregon State. Maybe the bigger takeaway is the yellow shorts worn by USC staff on the sidelines.

Shorts? Eyeroll Sacrilege I tell you.
great post! my fr year – there i am on the sideline standing next to Dan Barns (RIP) and brent parkinson – #54 tex williams in the background
I don’t care if they are wearing Cardinal and Gold thongs if they bring back the USC DOMINATING tradition!
You like gladiator movies, don’t you Mike?
as if shorts were any worse than skirts with Greek trim…

Didn’t Sean Salisbury start at the beginning of this season, then got benched in favor of Rodney Peete?
Yes. I went to SC from 86-90, and watching Peete those first three years was awesome. With a higher quality coach, those could have been some epic teams (RIP Coach Smith, no disrespect meant).
Well newsflash – Smith got the respect he earned – glory that could have been – not
What ?
Larry smith was actually a decent coach, he just wasn’t the right fit at USC. I remember how much he improved the team after taking over for tollner. But the whole marinovich saga ruined him, and he was never able to recover from that.
“Terminate Ted.” Does anyone remember hearing that at the coli?
Blogger we all know why you posted this pick. It had nothing to do with Junior Thurman did it? Oh by the way notice the staff wearing shorts.
