I believe this might be a good way to fill seats. I didn’t see student prices but they don’t go to games according to Collin Cowheard. My guess is the school values the game (in entertainment value) and sets the third week price at that value. They some fans will be foaming at the mouth and buy them as soon as possible the rest will play ebay and hope to get a lower bid. I will wait to see which station has it.
I remember going to the USC game there 2 years ago. I asked a student in the Palo Alto Downtown area where was the stadium. He didn’t seem sure where it was. .
Something to be learned if your program is in need of getting people into a stadium that seats >50k
It’s also pretty telling their difficulty in even selling it out consistently.
The question of Stanford student attendance is “academic” in this case … the Farm plays their first three games, including K-State and USC at home, before fall quarter classes start on Sept. 26.
Does Mr. Jenkins remember when the first game of the season was after autumn began in late September?
Early September was the typical season start when Mr. Jenkins began following the Trojans … but certainly NEVER before Labor Day! What Mr. Jenkins most fondly recalls was the standard 1:30 pm kickoff time, with the long shadows in the 4th quarter and a flock of sea gulls circling the empty visitor’s section after another USC blow-out cleared the stands.
Isn’t that bel-air tech’s excuse for losing every year?
Leave it to Stanford to make it confusing.
