Jack Jones Picture Of The Day

JONES.HITThis was the play I mentioned Thursday when freshman cornerback Jack Jones brought down running back Reuben Peters with a hard hit.

  1. Judging by the caption of the blogger you would think a video would be more appropriate here, but whatever.

  2. So at Bridesmaid U they lose their 3 stars and 5 stars??? How many 5 stars does that leave them with?? Rhymes with “none”…

  3. Bad Saturday for Trolls. Apparently no USC players are ineligible as they’ve been predicting daily and their so-called best recruit, Mique NoShow, is a head case who’s getting special treatment from the Chimp. Chimp’s not so tough now that he’s on his knees begging Mique to please stay!

    I

    • Man Mora hiring that new age guru to ‘speak’ to the players is telling. “Boys if you didn’t have a clue well you do now….this is the graveyard of the Pac-12 so let’s all hug each other and get out on that 80 yd. practice field. Oh yeah almost forgot you’re going to lose a lot of games this year just like you always do.”

      • Ummmmm…. So this is awkward, but when was the last time a Jim Mora coached UCLA team lost more games in a season than USC? I’ll wait…

        • “I’ll wait.” That’s so cute little gutty. Makes it seem like Alvarado is supposed to respond to your off-topic response.

The last time the Chimp played USC he got mauled. How come he can’t ever win the conference? I’ll wait…Oh I forgot, a bunch of little gutties got hurt last year. It’s always something in Wimpwood – not one Rose Bowl win since 1986. Are the bruins too hurt to win every single year?

          • It’s funny Jack, this used to be a USC site. I really keep to myself, unless UCLA is brought up and boy for a “gutty” little school across town, with no conference titles in 30 years we sure seem to get under your skin. Heck, you, the mighty USC, with a global reach and unlimited resources settled on a coach whose only accomplishment was beating Jim Mora, once. I thinkwe might be more in your head than you’d care to admit.

          • I’ve always said, “There’s nothing better than beating Notre Dame and nothing worse than losing to ucla.”

Half the reason I come here is to rag on Trolls. I’m in some good company actually. We regularly beat the pants off PED Protector U goons around here (no pun intended).

Thanks for the Mighty USC compliment. We truly do have global reach as currently demonstrated by USC’s Rio performances and comfortable lead in all-time Olympic medals, including and especially Gold.

And slaughtering Mora with a relatively weak coach-in-flux team…hey, I’ll take it. Watching Rosen come apart just reaffirmed what I specifically told you before last season – you’d pay the price with a true frosh QB. Give me some credit. Bullseye.

          • It must have felt good to beat Mora 1 out of 4 times. So good that you actually hired the guy that beat him. Tell me, who is the last coach USC hired less qualified than Helton?

          • I wasn’t a fan of Helton. But I moved on…and we’re loaded this year and he did some good off-season stuff. Has a much improved staff. I’m confident that if he doesn’t look strong enough in two years, Swann (who I really like) will bring in a big gun and fix this thing.

I’m also pleased that during USC’s NCAA exile, the bruins never capitalized. You never did squat nationally, as you never do. You blew a nice little chance. But you’re still not in USC’s league. You’re AP’s #17, USC is #5. That says it all.

Truth is, if Mora was at USC, we wouldn’t be happy at all. Just beating your cross-town rival doesn’t cut it at USC, which is why the AP views USC as #5. We’ve got bigger designs at USC compared to ucla, which is probably why you’re over here and I’m not at some ucla blog. USC owns L.A. It’s just a fact.

          • I hope that historical ranking makes you feel good Jack, hold onto that tight. You’re right elite programs need to do more than beat their rival, yet that’s all USC requires to be given the head job, well, actually just the local less prestigious rival, you can get stomped by ND and make it now. As far as this being a USC blog, what’s the breakdown between USC and UCLA comments here?

          • SC earned that spot. We walked into that spot with our eyes closed. Since I’ve been alive (1981) UCLA has only an 8 game winning streak nothing else, a 1986 Rose Bowl maybe, but I think they were overrated in that poll at 17.

          • Since you’ve never had significant football history, you wouldn’t know what it feels like little gutty.

Since 2000, USC is 10-6 (ND) and 12-4 (ucla).

So much for getting stomped little gutty. Both the Irish (whom ucla is 0-4 against) and the little gutties have bowed down to USC in the 21st century. We own you. The difference between ND fans and you little gutties is the Irish are secure enough to admit that USC has been dominant. You little gutties like to pretend you actually won the 66-19 game, which is what a second tier program like ucla hangs on to.

Go ahead and come up with that USC/ucla breakdown on your own. Sounds like it’s important to you, whereas I couldn’t care less. In fact, it makes me laugh. Get to work!

          • You can have your history Jack, I know it’s very important to you. But the fact remains that USC isn’t exactly a top tier program anymore, similar to Miami I guess. Bottom line, if you were still an elite program, Clay Helton would not be your head coach. All he has ever done is beat UCLA once.

          • NYC, we had 30 LESS SCHOLARSHIPS and still managed to end up #6 in 2011. We were hit hard and still maintained. We just won the Pac12 South last season in a year where we lost our head coach after game 5. This will only be year 2 of our roster being at 85. Now with a stable coach and a real DC things won’t be the same. The talent and numbers will be coached by actual teachers.

          • NYC Bruin can’t stand for little ucla to be labeled as just a second tier program – which they’ve always been. Just stay with that theme and he’ll be here until midnight with you, pretending ucla ever actually won something in football since ’54.

          • Even in the 90’s when USC was down and UCLA had an 8 game winning streak on us, Don James and Washington were dominating the conference. They won Rose Bowls and a NC.

          • Be careful. NYC Bruin will just keep going on and on about Helton’s hire, supposedly singularly disqualifying USC as an “elite” team. Helton, the bruin killer!

The little gutties never have the numbers so they’re always bringing a knife to a gunfight. Gluttons for punishment – a little gutty tradition.

          • Nobody wanted Helton except his players, but he mopped up UCLA when the division was on the line and his attitude might be what our team needs.

          • Apparently you can stand SoCal losing 6 games and it hasn’t deflated your head or over-inflated sense of worth a bit.
SoCal WAS a top tier program.

          • Here we go with the scholarships…….
You also hired two pinheads in a row for coaches. Think that had anything to do with it?

          • I’ve heard Mora and Scott White met with him and his family last night and the situation is probably 50/50, which is an improvement from yesterday where it was 75% leaving. I like our linebacker depth even without him, but whether he stays or leaves, it’s a bad look for the program.

          • I heard he tried to transfer after Spring ball, but Mora and the staff talked him out of it. It’s a tough situation to be in. On one hand you want to hold onto him because he’s a great player, but on the other hand it might be better to cut the chord because this could happen again down the road and it would spare both sides of further drama.

          • It’s a weird situation. There’s a dynamic of not being the big man on campus anymore combined with family / girlfriend issues. If he transfers, my money is on BYU, but I’ve also heard he might quit football all together. Either way, I’m ready for the season to start.

On another note, who do you think starts at QB against Bama and will it be the same guy that starts against us?

          • I think Browne will get the start, and I think it will be partly based on his loyalty to the program. But that being said I think Browne can handle this offense and Darnold could also. People like Wolf tend to ignore that Darnold missed his entire senior year and he usually lights it up in practice, but against 2nd team players so it’s tough to get a feel where Darnolds at. I would go with Browne. He’s the older and bigger kid and I think he deserves a shot in an actual game with a veteran Offensive line with weapons like Juju Smith-Schuster, and a legitimate RB duo behind him. It’s Alabama in game 1 so he’ll either sink or swim. Darnold will have a chance, but in the past we always had success with QB’S that waited a long time for their shot. Leinart, Booty, Sanchez all waited years and it payed off for them sitting and learning. If Darnold was the guy it wouldn’t surprise me though, he brings an arm and legs to his game and that’s something that I know Helton is itching to unleash. Like you I’m just ready for the season to start.

          • Actually MIA’s #13, much closer to ucla. You’ve gotten sloppy little gutty. The least you can do is pick teams like NEB or MICH, which are #6 and #7.

As far as history goes it’s 47-31-7 all-time and 13-4 since 1999 (you know, current history). It’s great to be King. ucla plays the queen so well!

          • Five boroughs if you made that statement as a financial disclosure in a SEC filing you’d be stared at by the suits and then made to do the perp walk.

USC is the sole program west of the Mississippi that has no peer.

            Don’t make foolish statements.

          • You guys are right, You need to flap your lips now because it’s not going to start well for you this year. Before letter of intent day most recruits will be aware SoCal will be heading for yet another coaching change wasting a three more years of their eligibility and all while they hear you toadies yapping about being a top tier program. Sanctions are over, popeye, time to step up and play.

        • Hi sailor!

Bluntly when you announce you have a ‘Dr. Oz’ on paid staff it beggars the question “What next? A ten day in depth Reichian Therapy gig?”

Hey courtesy of the Upanaishads I give you “Oh hhhhhmmmmm.

          Good luck –

          • YOU actually have the gall to bring up ‘BAMA? Pretty funny actually. Except if ‘BAMA was coached by the Chimp, they’d be throwing rocks through his windows.

          • You’re the one who initially brought up ‘BAMA, not me. Try and follow along. ucla’s a second tier program, USC and ‘BAMA are top tier. Irrefutable. Too bad. Maybe if you win about 20 Rose Bowls and 20 conference championships, you might get into our league. Then again, maybe not.

          • Five boroughs you’re not a bad guy – good luck 3rd Sept. @ TX A&M. Sumlin is on the really really hot seat and Mora looks and acts like he wants out but can’t…….in the gloaming.”

          • Musings are Mora knows he’s plateaued esp. with USC back at full force. He didn’t coach well in the NFL but he knows if his efforts continue to decline at bel-air tech there will be no interest from the NFL.

          • You remember last year after the loss to USC he candidly stated the athleticism and physicality of the Trojans. He may have that stiff upper lip but consider the postponed trip to Verdemont hiring of the head shrinker and well aware he can’t match up in recruiting – the perennial problem for schools such as bel-air tech – they can’t and never shall be able to recruit in depth.

        • Wow, now your going to full turd throwing troll level. I guess things are getting bad over in Westwood.
