Chad Wheeler Still In Pain

I would not count on Chad Wheeler starting at left tackle against Alabama. He felt pain in his foot during today’s mock game and Clay Helton said he would decide Tuesday whether Wheeler or Chuma Edoga starts.

Given how little Wheeler’s practiced and the fact he feels pain, it seems unlikely Wheeler is ready to start or perhaps even play.

  1. Man does Goff look like a deer caught in the head lights or what? I get he’s a rookie but still this is why the Rams are what they are – bad pick for the most mediocre performing team in the NFL – I didn’t say the worst but certainly the most pathetic.

    • Same recruiting class as Max .. I never really saw anything for Goff to be a #1 nfl pick.. Expensive qb project..

      • Kroenke has no interest the way Rooney, Mora, Jones, DiBartolo even Davis did – he’s just looking for the money and could give a rip about fielding a quality product – any extension given Fisher is proof positive of that on top of the kid, Snead, he has as the GM.

        • The Rams needed a QB even with the last draft class light on the position. He will end up a trade chip with a nfl team friendly rookie contract.. The draft class for 17 and 18 will have several qb options for the Rams.. Rosen, Browne in the Pac .. More so Browne.. Rosen I see needs to put on some muscle, his game is still raw..

          • 55 I admit I am not objective when it comes to the Rams as I have nothing but contempt and always shall for what they bilked the people of St. Louis out of >$1 billion for a stadium that wasn’t even 20 years old. Having said that they’re being run just as they always have – a cut rate +/- 0.500 club with a lazy owner, an incompetent low salary head coach and now a GM that looks like he’s barely old enough to drink running things. This is the way it has always been – get control the 2nd largest market in the USA and do noting.

You’re right about Rosen i,e. needs to add some weight – may be a decent qb in he NFL – maybe.

I just hope USC makes everyone look forward to Saturdays and render that suck up Vincent Bonsignoire frustrated because well we’re talking the Rams right?

          • Sadly, I have been a Rams since my childhood.. Yes, you are right.. Kroenke is in it for the money.. As for StL they did not honor their contract obligations.. Anyway, Gotta give em time to get settled in LA..Players will come, like USC eyes are on them to produce and win!

          • You don’t think Kroenke wants to win? He’s paying an awful lot of dough on players, stadiums, etc. Everyone knows you have to win in L.A. or nobody cares.

Jerry Jones wants to win bad as anyone alive and the Cowboys stink every year. Complicated business.

I think the Rams look marginal but nobody knows how Goff will turn out yet. Sometimes the light just turns on. It’s great Goff doesn’t have to start right now. Should help him grow and take lumps without going into the dumper. I’m not sure about Fisher. Who’s better and available?

            Should be very interesting.

          • Goff has talent, once he adopts the nfl game speed he “could” be something special, the 17 and 18 class does have some arms that will be options if Goff doesnt do well.

          • Kroenke could give a rip – the extension he’s going to give Fisher is proof. The Gm he has is another. Kroenke has what he wants = control of LA and his own brand new stadium.

          • Cowboys are done with Romo out 10 weeks with yet another injury. But are the Cowboys making money while producing mediocrity every year since Aikman retired? Maybe that is what Kroenke is counting on.

          • I saw that clip and pf course the question as to why the Cowboys HC chose to play him then again he had that back surgery what 6 mos. ago? Crack there it is again.

Jones never should have sacked Jimmy Johnson

  2. We’ve been anticipating that Wheeler might not be ready go. Chuma Edoga filled in last year and got valuable playing time. Edoga has to step up.

  3. In my opinion, Chuma Edoga played confused and ineffective every time he lined up at LT, his first season as a Trojan. It is possible, with much improved offensive line coaching, the youngster will play FIVE STAR quality LT and blow the Tide away. Hope so !!!

  4. Wheeler can make it. His feet hurt. They’re not broken his toes are messed up. So get him the right shoes and let him play.

      • Foot pain is discussed on the back page of the comics every weekend and the sports page on weekdays. I am also licensed to sell hearing aids and diagnose vitamin defecitiancy. (A common problem among the elderly and baby bears)

  5. I’d let him rest. Despite all of the hype, the Alabama game isn’t that important. It has no impact on whether SC wins or loses the pac-12.

    • Excellent point jim. If we lose this game but win the rest we still make the playoff.

      • Beating Alabama would be a huge boost to this football program comparable to the 23-0 victory over #1 ranked Auburn in the first game of the year back in 2003. But losing it is not the end of the world. Chuma is an outstanding prospect with experience. If it is possible to beat Bama with Wheeler then it’s possible to beat them with Chuma. If he is not ready, I wouldn’t rush it.
